Cold rain brought him to consciousness. The blood was thick in his eyes, the taste of it flowing freely in his mouth. Pain was nothing new. Unfortunately for him, great pain like this was. From the top of his head to the soles of his feet was great pain.

And he felt every millisecond of it.

Luck had always been his, and mostly it was he that dealt the pain in massive amounts. Since childhood he had been cruel, gotten what he wanted with no thought to the consequences or effects of what it took to get it.

Rubbing her hand, knuckles cut and bloody; his and her blood mingled on her fists. Hair soaked, rain pounded down on the cement their bodies unmoving and still. Drops rolling down her body, her clothes, sticking to her pale skin; her left eye cut from being punched. The alley-way light, flickered and dimming as she saw him stir; moving forward quickly, swinging her foot back and kicking him hard in the side. She continued this till he was still again. A menacing growl slipped from her mouth, grabbing him by the collar and tossing him aside. Turning from him, she left him to lie in his own blood; to sit in the rain. She walked over to her school bag, picking it up and heading in the direction of home.

“YOU FUCKIN SLUT….you fucken..slut…”, his voice gurgled, coughs of blood spraying the remnants of his once handsome face. He reached toward her, his dislocated wrist and hand hanging limply, his ability to do so driven only by cruel hate and anger. A girl! A friggin girl! He had always been the one to play with the girls. After all they threw them selves at him constantly. Whether or not he hurt them didn’t matter. There was always more. Hurting them was, enjoyable. But this one, always ignoring Him. He had enough and decided He would have her. He had picked this alley as he knew she would come this way. She always did. And whether or not she liked it, He would have her.

She didn’t fight. In fact, for a moment she seemed almost willing, smiling at his knife like a child with a toy.

The girl’s dark eyes almost seemed black in the low light, the corner of her mouth, twitched into a smile. Then she frowned, speaking with a dark echo to her voice; her bag hanging in her hand loosely. “Go. Before I break you further. “ For a moment, her eyes glowed red as the fires of hell

It was a warning, hot breath curling up and out of her mouth; steam rolling off her body as she looked at him. She allowed him to grab her, allowed him to pull a knife with little emotion on her round face; suddenly her bag swung forward, hitting him upside the head and just as quickly she kicked his arm breaking the hold he had of her. She kicked him again, her shoe stained with his blood already, kicking him back again and again. She had enough of him. Turning once more and walking towards home, if he followed her; she would deal with him, if he called the police. She would tell them her part of the story, if she got hurt, though she had no fear being hurt; she would heal and she would move on. Glancing to see if he was getting back up, she then disappearing around the corner.

The police and the medivacs wondered how this scene had played out. The man was obviously delusional. His ranting of a young girl chasing him into the alley and turning into a demon. Had to be a concussion. Evidence showed that he was beaten severely by assailant or assailants unknown, and it was obvious. But his extensive trauma wounds convinced investigators he had been assaulted by four or more men. Men with great violence and strength. Further evidence showed something unexpected. In the mans effects was a medicine bag containing several small items , each connecting the victim to several rape and murders plaguing the area which had left investigators baffled. The Lead investigator’s sharp smile of delight was quite evident as he bagged the man’s souvenirs for forensics. He had recognized the fact that with his position as a church deacon and leading member of the city council the victim may never had been caught for his crimes. The investigator was heard to say softly, “Demon or Angel I don’t care which, God Bless her…”.

As the man, sat amongst the many; that have done wrong and been caught. Every night, the two glowing red eyes appeared at his cell window and the same voice, whispers with a laughing hiss. “Ready for round two?”
