Here's a lil story about someone close to me. She had a normal life, up till she was 9. Her parents divorced before she was born, but everything was still fine with just her and her mom. At 9, her grandmother died. At 10, a close friend died. See the pattern? Soon, a lot of people died around her. She slowly slipped into a depression, thinking it was her fault. At 14 her mom remarried a man who touched her. She learned to fight back. He only did it once because of that.



At 14, the 3 of them moved to a new state for her mom's college. New high school, new people. Still the same depression. First boyfriend, a junior, tried to rape the girl after prom that year. That summer he tried to kill her. The following winter, he left her. She tried to kill herself because of him. She's still around today. The rest of high school seemed normal. She was active in a lot. But her parents kept nagging for her to get a job. She tried desperately to get a job, but her parents had control of the phone. When potential interviewers called, they told them she wasn't interested in the job anymore. Then they would yell at her because she didn't get the job. How was she to live after that?



Spring forward to college. New school, just up the road from where she lived. Why? She gave up a full ride, far away to stay home and take care of her mom. College, she met a guy. She fell in love. They were engaged. Parents didn't approve. He was going down a very bad path in life. Girl leaves guy. Guy breaks into her home with his friends and proceeds to rape her and tries to kill her. She fights back. Almost loses her life. But she never forgets the memories.



Loses house that November to a fire. Homeless again. Decides to attempt to move away from parents. New dad shatters her collar bone. That January, post finding a new home. Calls boyfriend to come get her. Move 8+ hours away. Has seen her parents once since. Refuses to see them again.
