Layouts and Skins
Applying a Skin
Premium Members manage their skins via the Skin Manager. You may only skin each layout once. Once a layout is skinned, whenever you select the skinned layout the skin is used.
Changing skins is quick and easy. You may want to keep a local text file with all of your skins, so you can quickly apply them via the Skin Manager.
To apply a skin, go to the Create a New Skin section of the Skin Manager. Select the layout from the drop down list that you are going to skin.
Name the skin. The skin name can be whatever you like, but it is limited to 20 characters or less. The name you choose will replace the layout name in your layout changer drop down list. For example, if you're skinning the layout VR Classic Red and you name your skin Slaphappy, after the skin is created Slaphappy replaces VR Classic Red in your layout changer drop down list.
Next, fill in the full internet path to the CSS file for the skin. It should look something like:
Next, fill in the path to the location of the graphic files for the skin. This is a path only, and the path MUST end with a trailing slash. Failing to add the trailing slash will cause the skin not to work. It should look something like:
Finally, click submit. If you were already set to the layout you were skinning the skin should apply and your view of the site should change. If not, click your layout changer drop down list and select the new skin.
If your view of the site doesn't change at all, and you've verified your layout is set to the skinned layout, you may be experiencing page caching problems. Press F5 and it will force your browser to reload the page. You should then see the new skin.
If everything looks messed up after you switch to the skin, you didn't set something up correctly when you were creating the skin. Verify the CSS path. Verify your graphics path ends with a trailing slash.
