•••Ingredients•••
•2 cups whole milk
•1/3 tsp garlic, freshly chopped
•1 cup heavy cream
•1-1/2 cups granulated sugar
•9 egg yolks
•1 vanilla bean, split in half (or you can use vanilla essence)
•••Method•••
Put milk, garlic and vanilla in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.
In mixing bowl, blend cream, sugar and egg yolks. Strain the milk mixture into the egg and sugar mixture, stirring constantly.
Return the combined mixture to the pan and stir continuously over moderate heat until it coats the back of a spoon, about 10-15 minutes.
Put in freezer until firm, taking it out and stirring every so often to get rid of ice crystals.
It should serve about 4-6 people. But if you are big ice cream eaters, like my husband, make a wee bit more by doubling the recipe.
I have heard that there is a restaurant that just serves things made with garlic and this is one of their desserts!
