The planet is ruled by television programs and media ratings, and Mojo rose to power through his control over the TV industry and his gladiator-like television show, which brutally pits slaves against one another. One of Mojo's most well known slaves is Spiral, who was transformed from the human stuntwoman Rita Wayward. In a visit to earth, Mojo also captured Betsy Braddock, a blind mutant with psychic abilities. Mojo gave Betsy a new name, Psylocke, and pitted her against Spiral in an epic gladiatorial fight of superhuman abilities.
