In 1732 Johann Wilhelm Nobling - writing under the pseudonym of Johann Christoph Stock - published his \"Dissertatio physica de cadaveribus sanguisugis; von denen so genannten Vampyren oder Menschen-Säugern\", claiming that the vampires were not \"undead\" human beings, but demons.
