Opalite Moon
Silence night sky with opalite moon: this is my day
When the fiery sun has gone down across the land: this is when I wake
I look around this frozen castle: it’s always empty
I only hear the wind through the trees: all the humans are asleep in their beds
I breathe in and sigh: I am ready for the hunt
I walk out of this dusty cellar: I must see the ash night sky.
Silent as a mouse but as fast as a cheetah I am out in the open air: it feels good to be outside
I walk soundlessly towards the houses of the village: I feel a great urgency to satisfy my thirst
I stop outside a little cottage which has light pouring from one of the top windows: this’ll do nicely
With great care I leap softly towards the window: the thirst driving me mad
Teeth bared I smash through the glass of the window;
The girl inside’s face is silent in shock: she knows that screaming won’t save her
Within seconds I have drained her body of the warm silky red liquid: my thirst quenched
I lay the girl on her bed, delicately, I shut her eyes
Then a rose drenched in her own blood rests on her pale chest
And a kiss on her forehead: I leave without a trace.
