Marvel 1602 is a comic series written by Neil Gaiman (author of The Sandman Series and Coraline) published by Marvel Comics.
In this series the Marvel comic book heroes have been transplanted into the Elizabethan era. Some common heroes appear in the series such as Nick Fury, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and Spider-man. Villains such as Doctor Doom and Magneto are found too. The heroes must battle a mysterious force, believed to be the apocalypse, to save their crumbling world.
The heroes are seen as witchbreed (mutants) and are seen as the cause of the unnatural occurrences happening in the world.
