A set of Mangalore costume armour worn in the Bruce Willis and Luc Besson action movie The Fifth Element (1997). The hideous mercenary aliens can be seen running around in these throughout the movie under the command of the evil Zorg (Gary Oldman). The set consists of a codpiece, knee pads and set of drags, all made from distressed leather with foam padding inside. The cod piece has four holes around the edges for attaching it to the costume and knee pads were glued to the suit. Lastly, there are a set of 'drags' which are matching lengths of leather which were draped over the ugly alien's shoulder These were removed from the costumes at the end of production and kept separately. The largest piece measures approximately 28cm x 23cm (11" x 9") and all are in a great production worn condition.
