Alphanauts follows the adventures of a small band of men and women on Genser's World, and earth-like planet of Alpha Centauri. Along the way they meet the descendants of another space-traveling species and their empathic catbird symbiots, two ancient cyborg intelligences, and a malevolent computer intelligence which must be destroyed before it evolves into a form that might undo everything the Alphanauts have worked so hard to build.

To make matters worse, the colonists are about to be forced to deal with an even bigger threat; refugees from a ruined Earth who are approaching fast and planning to set up a fascist utopia on the new world.
