After seeing one of my favorite movies ever Van Helsing, I was poundering something most taxing.
As we know the body of a vampire does not age any longer after it is made. So if vampires could produce offsping, would the offspring age past infancy? Would they age to a certain point and stop? What about beings like God and Satan, did they have a point of adolence, infancy?
good question that really does make you think about things
Thats a very interesting question, one that fits suprisingly well with 'who created the creator?' thread... what age was the creator? what age are they now if theydo indeed 'exist.'
I assume that genetically a vampire would age up until a point. By obviously I dont know. Great quesiton though *goes away to ponder*
Yet another question that can't really be answered....
I'd guess at about 25-30, when the human body is at its physical peak.
That's a good question...
I was thinking about that when I saw Van Hellsing too
Well I can't say about the vampire part. But I can say that from my understanding (and understand that i am not claiming to know fir sure or anything) Satan was an angle! there for he was created as he was ment to be! So no he had no infacy or adolecents. God also had no adaloescents! He Is! Watever that means lol!
Going on the vampire theme, it depends on what you read. Some say vampires are sterile, so children would be a moot point. Others believe a vampire can have a child with a mortal, and the child will age, but alot slower, unless they decide to become a vampire.
As a daoist i believe that the world was created by energy out of the Tao (the void) and with the issue of God and Satan, is that the world needs both good and evil to have balance, so God and Satan was created by the good and bad energy in the Tao, so i guess that they did not have a childhood they were just created.
u probbly cant answer that just like you cant answer this
"if we all came from god-the planets ect where did god come from" i luv stumpin christian with that question
mm interesting...you'd think they would age up to a certain point but...in interview with a vampire the girl (kirstin dunst) she didn't age, she stayed the same as a little girl as time passed...so this makes you wonder...
* shrug *
I was wondering myself if vampires could have children... thinking about it, i don't think they would. they are dead. surely the one thing that gives life would cease to be there at death. then again, who knows. I've never heard anything of vampires who have had children.
Gorey has a good point. I've never heard of Vampires actually being able to breed in the aspect of producing their own offspring. It doesn't seem as though they would have that ability. I know I don't have any kids....nor do I want any. I prefer cats to brats anyday.
random thought but maybe a vampire would need a human of the opposite sex to have children... two dead beings giving life just doesn't sound possible to me.
You're putting two different theories into one question.
Which doesn't really work well.
Theory one is that a Vampire, once Turned, does not age.
This is the common thought as being Vampyr is thought of by people actually spending tax dollars ( :| ) to research the subject as a contractable disease. Much like AIDS or Herpes.
A virus that is incurable.
The body dies... yet is continually animated by something that at the same time allows the origional soul to remain within.
Other look at it as a race.
Able to spawn... or in a more gentle word... procreate, as other species are able to do.
Pick one and run with it, kids.
:)
I would have to agree with Obelisk just cause look at blade hi mother was bitten before he was born and some of the effects went to him he only got half the traits but he still aged to a certaint point.
They also didn't look anything like their parents. Maybe they were a different kind. Or maybe they just didn't get any bigger I never thought about that hmm... Great now I'll keep thinking about it.
Van helsing, the best movies *frowns* Try Near Dark.. As for the aging of vampires, i tend to believe they do to some extent, otherwise they would not 'grow' stroger.. vamplings are weak.. they become stronger with a certain 'age' and of course experince. Have a look at this link, so good info on this... http://www.fvza.org/science2.html
(a must read!)
sheesh, my mind is just not worknig today (must of been that knock to the head i got) As for the Question of offspring.. 3 words I AM DHAMPIR *grins*
i still say its a good question because in some movies eg interview with a vamppire they dont yet others like blade they do but just slower
so there wouldent be an answer to it
IMMORTALS MUST AGE NOT PHYSICALLY OF COURSE BUT, MENTALLY. ONE WHO DOES NOT KNOW HIS WAY IS LOST AND WILL EVENTUALLY FALTER. A MATURE VAMPIRE IS ONE WHO UNDERSTANDS WHAT HE IS ACCEPTS HIS ROLE IN IMMORTALITY AND MOVES THROUGH THE AGES ONLY BECOMING WISER.(RE: LOUIE FROM INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE)
some pretty good posts so far, u thought that certain immortals like God just were being a sort of center of quantim,
and vampires assuming that they can have offspring, that the offspring would not age but could get bigger and what not through physical activityand thereby become more powerful and appear to have gotten older (like when you see a guy that as put on a lot of muscle)
but then i read that article dhampir put up and now i am not entirly sure, i would suggest reading it before making another post here
in case you don't feel like scrolling back up to find it here it is again

it makes you consider som new points
HMMMMMMMM! I think that vampire offspring would most likely mature to adulthood then regenerate at that point thinking scientifically! I'm a wiccan so the biblical god is a blasphemy and a supression of the godess due to fear of women in power around the time of the bibles writing.
well i reckon they would mature to a point and then there immortality would kick in
hmm... interesting... if the age theory is true then it would mean that no immortal would age, that is the known curse and blessing of immortals. But I fail to understand this. I'll explain myself. If immortals indeed don't age then, theý live forever. but if the population of immortals would be as large as the mortal then it would be too crowed or could it be that they can die by other things than age? or are there several plains of this world where there is endless pace for them? ...
hmmm I should think this over and over untill I reach clearity ::goes and thinks::
~AmaliA~
I would say for the vampires offspring (in the stories where they can have offspring) they might just age slower or just until they reach the parents age.
About Satan and God they are surrpose to creatures of forever and have great power so they could do what they please
amaila(hope i got it right):
you bring up a good point to go in addtion to my question.
i guess over time things would level off like the mortal population.
after a point they would start killing each other off (if they could), stop reproducing, colonize other worlds, or just live in misery do to lack of resources forever. i probably missed several other possiblities but that should cover the most basic of the basics
a vampire infant would grow to the age of the sire and stop, as a normal child would.
From what I understand, an "Angel" being a being whom has never truly lived in a human body before is able to adapt to any age it (being that they are neither male or female) wishes.
A vampire is able to bare children. Assuming that both parents are vampyric, the child will have a slower growing gene, but will suspectedly stop when the child claims a mate.
Is the child has a human parent and vampiric parent, it is known that the child will have a normal growing gene, until the gene is no longer dormant, stopping the growing process alltogether. Usually it would stop shortly after puberty.
My two cents.
im sure if they eat three wheaties they will grow up to be big and stwong ^_^ hehe jus messing....
honestly i think they would age but not to a far age like 50 thed probably look like the are 20 and stop so its cool....
I think Chuck Norris is an immortal...and might one day destroy us all.

i was wondering the same thing after watchin the first blade movie, there were pure blood Vampires that were born Vampires an then the infected(Decon Frost ect.) makes one wonder
It's nice to know that I'm not the only one thinking about these things!
