Plus i was researching a bit and found some verses on her. Enjoy.

Isaiah 34:14
Wildcats and hyenas will hunt together, demons and devils dance through the night. The night-demon Lilith, evil and rapacious, will establish permanent quarters.

The Darby Translation (bible)
Isaiah 34:14
And there shall the beasts of the desert meet with the jackals, and the wild goat shall cry to his fellow; the lilith also shall settle there, and find for herself a place of rest.

That's all i could find Bible-wise on her.

I recommend reading the 'Alphabet of Ben Sira'. Interesting stuff indeed. Dated somewhere between the 8th and 10th centuries, so it is said.

I could only find her in the 2 bibles mentioned above. The others didn't contain her name at all. So i was wondering where did the story come from about her being Adam's first wife and her leaving the garden of Eden etc....?

The are a few threads on this. Some contain quite a bit of information. But in general she was the first wife of adam, was banished from garden of ededn, and then became the queen of darkness.

There are many threads or at least a few about lillith ..try using the forum search and see what it pulls up.Lots of info there :) More then 15 threads to be more exact.

I know of her from Mesopotamian myth as well, but I'd have to do some reading ot give any more details.

well not speaking in just reference to books, but also personal experience too like some people view her to be their dark mother, dreamt of her etc. Was wondering if i was alone on this or not.

This reminds me of the fall of lucifer type of ordeal as well. I'll explain.

If adam was just a mortal man, then Lilith would have been as well. Apparently she got her name by going elsewhere and having sex with "demons"? I'm a little confused. How did the demons get there in the first place? This God would have created them too. How else would you explain that story?

Lucifer is a 'lightbringer'. That doesn't sound evil to me but it seems that whenever someone goes against this "God" their descriptions change to something more negative.

The placement of Lucifer in Isiah is actually a mistranslation of the word meaning 'howl'. This word is found at least 72 other times in the old testament. And never once speaks of Lucifer..the passage actually refers to a King.

Supposedly, Lilith was the first wife of Adam, and she was created, like him, from dirt. She was the first feminist also, I'd just like to add.
When they 'lay' together, Adam would always demand to be on top, and Lilith underneath him, because she should be subservient. Good husband he was, heh. But she refused, saying that since they were equal, they should have equal turns on top and underneath. Adam did not like this, so he ran crying to God.
Adam wanted a wife that would be subservient, Lilith didn't want to be, so God kicked her out of Eden and made Eve from Adams rib.
Lilith then went off to breed copiously with demons and the like, creating the 'Lilim', or succubus, if you like.

At least, this is what I have found out by my research. But I can't quote any sources, because its all in my head.

Now an interesting little tidbit of information, or some useless trivia, is that in the anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion they refer to man as 'Lilim'... So does this mean that the creator of this series sees us as demons? Interesting. Or useless. You decide!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news yet the Lilith thread has been done I believe twice with alot of indepth descriptions done by me and many other members here on the rave. Not sure if this will be kept open, but for the most part the whole Lillith research has been over killed in my opinion.

That happens often when it comes down to the same ideal threads. I mean its great to get another point, yet when it comes and goes in like three different threads in the last three months then it tends to get over played and looses its flavor and the desire to even look any more.

I know personally there is probably more information on Lillith out there, yet I will leave that for the Wife to look up since Lillith is her whole deal.
