I have seen a lot of Hollywood vampire films over the years. I would like your opinion on what you think of these hollywood vampires
I think that there are too many Different types. you know like some of them can be in sunlight when some can't. Stuff like that
I Think They Fill The Myth Of Vampires Very Well, Yet Alot Of The Newer Ones Are Completely Changing The Old Superstitions Of Garlic And Such (Ex. Aeonflux). They Give It More Of A "Disease" Aspect Rather Than A "Bring Out The Garlic And Crosses" Asperct. Personaly, There Are Good Vamp Movies And There Are Bad Ones
i think most hollywood vampire movies are like the blacksploitation movies. the take all the preconceptions and put them on a reel. only telling one side of the story, usually theirs.

I think they are wonderful depictions of creative minds and exactly what they should be, entertainment.
Before this thread starts going in the direction it usually does I will mention it... Hollywood is not trying to keep the human vampire 'down'. That is an egotistical thought. People that make movies are doing exactly what they should be doing, trying to entertain us by bringing folklore to the big screen with awesome special effects. Human vampires never even cross their minds.
And if you think Hollywood vampires suck- (if this applies to you) you should also rethink all your backgrounds, 'cool graphics', fangs, and anything else you've picked up to be 'you'.
I don't think anyone living the vampiric life as defined in human terms are ever offended by something that is obviously NOT about them.
It is in fact the catalyst as described by Michelle Belanger that brings people (even her) to the realization of who they are inside. Symbolism.
oh how i'd love to disagree, images, but i do see your point.
Vampires in film is where we do get most of our imagery about them. Boris Karloff did it best back in history, or Bella Lugosi in my opinion. It gives the modern day vampire actor a lot to aspire too. :)
That was too funny, Images, we as a group are subject to the whims of Hollywood as to the portrayal as to what and who we are,so far, however, I've yet to see an actual film depicting who we are,let alone how we live or what truely makes us tick.
I like the fact that film makers and novelists usually take things to the extreme. I like to be exited during a movie or book and sometimes the writers unrealist qualitie hit right at home, other times they don't, I guess it just depends on the writer.

No, I have also never seen a film about 'real' vampires. They are of course thinking about the market and what the masses want to see. There's nothing wrong with that- that's their job. Like I always say, I happily pad their pockets for taking me away from reality. I dig a good flight to the flipside.
Hollywood has to add all these flashy things to make it interesting. Do we truly know that garlic, holy water, sunlight or even a stake through the heart work???
No but they feed on the fears of people, of the unknown and have to give them some version of hope to defeat the monsters of the night.

Garlic, holy water, sunlight are kosher... Just ask your average Catholic Italian surfer vampire. But a stake through the heart? It will undoubtedly do the job.
and hey, I dont see how anything could live without a head.
I find all of hollywoods dramatic vampires are based on the stories we all are told that supposedly are legends which depict a vampire as this horrible life sucking demon who wants to rule over all...which if vampires actually were real i doubt this would be true...im sure they would be the dominating race in a world of monsters but not like kings or rulers.
MrdrAndKaosSaysDestin,
Who is to say that powerful vampires do not occupy positions of great influence, within the global society?
And perhaps as the art imitates life, it translates a generalised idea of this into the media.
when hollywood started making movies about us they turned us into a bit of a "joke" almost because peple don't realize that we where around long befor the movies.... they just never noticed us and now that they know what to look for they think we are only this way because we want to be like the movie characters.... little do they know we where around so much befor lol where do they think the movies characters came from.... the movies made it very hard for people to think we are anything but wanna bes like the girls that dress like paris hilton.... we're just the darker side of the wanna be's acording to many.... I live in a small town and there is no such thing as people like me and everyone seems to think that I dress the way I do because I wanna be like the movie characters.... it bothers me and bit but what more can I expect from small minded people lol
they do a lot of diffrent kind kinds of vampires , some are agressive some to me are sissy punks, some are old and looking for redeption and a bride some are looking to cuse caious, but i have to say i love the dark shadows
as it was stated before they are indeed doing their job and also making money out of it, most fo the time the producer of the "vampire" movies are not there to info but to entertaine and to also make money. As to one details tho...are they actually vampirs in movies but not vampire movies? In normal movies I mean, personellely I think there is.
hollywood is in the business of making money. what ever sells at the time it what the make. that's all, they try to figure out the best way to get pople into thr seats. so they have to "change it up" from time to time to keep us going back for more.
