Well it seems over due for another discussion from your resident infernalist.

Having been busy doing other things I have come under some views which I would like to discuss with the members of this forum. Thank you for your patience.

So the questions are as follows.

In general, what is it to be a Sorcerer, a Witch, even an Infneralist?

What makes one what they study? At what point does it become ingrained in who they are? Why do you think this is?

For me I find this study of self, and the study of the arcane sciences to be manifest in its different forms through the interplay of elements and essences as resident within the break downs of these arts. They are each very different systems, each complex in their own right. To develop ones own system being the ultimate aim that they may be able to bring something from the shadows of their own minds to this world and present it as another option.

There are those like the founder of the House Kheperu, and the orders of the Temple of Set, and many other unnamed houses and individuals who have exerted themselves as elders within their community who have established themselves as founts of wisdom, or respect for their actions in previous events. Their reward for their services is respect, but also demands that their work is mastery and precision.

What gets one to the point where one recognizes this? Is it that they are the last ones to find this out? Is being labeled a chronic liar when only truth is ever spoken part of it? When it is raining, and one speaks to the nature of the rain outside does this inspire people to take an umbrella? or does it make them think that it cannot be raining?

Such is the unwritten journey of life, that the fantastic tales and travels through the inner worlds guide us to our paths. What has yours yeilded you? To be a walker of the ways of spirit does not end with reading a book. But only begins when one seeks to pick it from the shelves. For those who feel that they can be something which they can not concieve to spend a lifetime to become, to those who can think of nothing but advancing the arts.

At what point do they achieve a form of mastery of information or point of view?

I feel this is never, that it can never truely happen. But at the same time, there is great understanding in the nature of the study which does come. The symbolism and the correspondences which make interpretation and use of the currents possible, to apply it to such ends where every experiment is a successful result unto its study.

What have you to say on the matter?

Personal thoughts on it are as follows:

There are those of us who wish to be successful in our "magical" endeavors, lured by the titles as listed above. That success can only ever be truly measured by ourselves. A status level only serves to nurture our false ego's.

For instance: Wizardry. It is a title that has garnered fantastical images of a boy wielding a stick in a school-converted-castle. A true wizard is one who is wise and well versed in the secrets of the Universe. But those secrets being so vast, a true wizard may never be satisfied that they can call themselves a wizard.

Interesting post

Myself im still walking many paths, iv gone from complex rituals to just sigils … and now back to complex rituals. My reasoning is rituals are hugely important and the instant magic is just like instant food quick n sickly with damaging long term effects lol

How did I get this way… my mum see’s dead people for real, I also lived on the moors of England and such things are common.

As for my energy feeding… I still don’t need it for food… I use it too power my magic or replace spent energy from magic.
I joined house Kheperu and missed last month yearly meeting …. Will be at the next one though.
Im more priest than any other caste, why did I join… because Miss Belanger is truly a visionary, and a leader. Iv always said a leader with no followers is just a man taking a walk. From the days of old with paranoid or anarchy minded people there was a fear to join groups or mass of people……. Still risky today for sure … all we need is some kid with a gun shoot a school and say im from Kheperu or worse VR lol
Our group is a recognized religion and growing

I consider to be anything oyu have to learn it to study it to observe it to have a mentor officially or non officially, to grow in it to bloom to evolve.

In order to do all this you have to come across the path ot have guidance and each study of the craft can lead to a great skilled being or to a demonic mind seeking to cause chaos and destruction.

The path is placed but the choice is not. Studying don,t mean success and it don't mean for the best but is always mean to open up something.

I am a firm believer that study is a good thing. In anything you might choose to so.Even if you are naturally good at something,it never hurts to learn more about it.

In general, what is it to be a Sorcerer, a Witch, even an Infernalist?
To be one that has a higher understanding of the world around them than the other individuals around them. Or, to be able to manipulate the world around them in ways that the ones around them cannot.

What makes one what they study? At what point does it become ingrained in who they are? Why do you think this is?
If you study history, you are a historian. If you study botany, you are a botanist. The point at which you start your studies. Perhaps not to as great a degree as those with a degree, but still the wording is there. In contemporary society, it becomes useful to have a degree in the area of study or have otherwise shown a commitment to the area of study, id wrote a book.

Everyone is their own Autocrat. I dare say that this is a form of power, and power is achieved through understanding. Understanding is achieved through experience, so there :)

So there what profane?

All of these questions have been answered very well.

The reason for this post is a general observation on the recent threads, so as the protagonist for starting comentary on downsliding standards, thats the funny thing about this post.

But also to stimulate discussion on the types of things, and forms of study which are acceptable.

EX with studies available now, which serve as a structured guide? Point being Harvard is higher form of education then a junior college, but at the same time, the same things can be studied?

How do we set these levels? and can we apply the same strata to the arcane fields?

Why do we need to equate experience and arcane know-how to any degree?

Most individuals study their perspective areas not to be nationally recognized, but simply to understand it for themselves.

...Or for a job, but I don't see that happening too often.

Furthermore, the point you tried to make with Harvard vs any (I'll say) community college is kind of spurious.

Harvard offers no higher education, the same education with more prestige attached.

Most would see a Master's in Harvard as *more* than any Master's in Rowan University.(a local school here).

I believe you must study it for along time and one that has earned the title must make sure you are up to the name before you use it.
