I truly have trouble with computer functions. Anything jpeg, that I save, Windows saves as bitmap; I can't use bitmap on most sites. How can I reformate back to jpeg??

Here is a correlated delima: HTML tags. I know how to use them on this site, but not others (Geocities), or creating a link doesn't seem to work either. I wish someone could sit beside me, put me on a leash, and walk me through the learning process.

I have some things I would like to add to my profile, but to no avail. Grrrrrrrr

ok first off Melody what Windows OS are you using ??
Windows 98 SE
Windows ME
Windows 2000
Windows XP

If you're using Windows XP click on Start then go to All Programs then to Accessories go down and click on Paint when that opens in Paint
Click on File then Open and browse to your image file and open it in Paint... then click on File ... Save As and then where it says Save as Type click on that and choose what you want to save it as and you can rename the file also if you like :P
Hope this helps if not let me know :P

Actually, I don't think Internet Explorer downloads jpg files into it's cache and then converts them into bmp when you save them. I'll bet if you just rename the .bmp extension to .jpg it would work.

I have XP, so later today I will try the "paint" format.

I tried renaming in with the extension, as you suggested Cancer, and it won't let me... :-(

This is the first time I've an issue with saving files. In the past, it automatically saved as jpeg. I like making mistakes, falling down, and trying again, but I am pulling my hair out with this one. I am sick of falling down; I have a bloody nose.

It will let you. Right click on the file, select rename, and then change the extension to jpg. Do this *after* you have already saved the file. So if it's saved to your desktop, right click on it there.
