Hi everyone - I've nearly finished it, so don't blow the ending on me - and I wanted to hear other ppls thoughts about this book. What did you think of Dan Brown's use of pagan symbology? Is he full of crap in putting it into a work of fiction, or right on the money? I'm curious about it, because a number of ppl here have listed in their profiles as being pagan, or as wicca... btw I'm really enjoying the story
Im pagan and i thought the book was absolutly amazing! He was right to put it into a 'fiction' novel because it makes it easier for people to understand. Then because its based on truth people can research into the facts and find out about the truth behind the book. Also by putting it in the form of a 'fiction' novel he is kinda covering his back too. x
His books are great.....can't wait for the newest to come out.
BTW-----anyone have any idea about the codes on the very last page of the paperback of two of his books? The series of numbers?
I have debated about getting the book and reading several times I always want to many and it often tends to be one of the ones i put back and say next time. One of these days i will get it and read it.
I have no problems with the pagan symbology he used in the book. A vast majority of it was either historically accurate, or very strongly based in history. Sauniere was a real person, not the same person used in the book, but the ties to some of the myths presented in the book are too strong to be coincidental. He did a lot in that book not unlike da Vinci's sneaking in his own messages into his works, shrouded by the work itself. Absolutely brilliant, in my opinion. Dan Brown quickly became one of my favorite authors after I started reading his works. Angels and Demons is the one I still really want to read, just haven't had a chance to get it yet.
It's a great book. He's reference to the pagan symbolism is pretty much spot on, but the way he put it into a 'fiction' book was quite sneaky and ingenious. Also, he's information on the places and people are also almost spot on. I have read all of his books and i most say that Angels & Demons and The Davinci Code are by far the most interesting books he has written. But of course, you are ment to read Angels & Demons before the Davinci Code as it is set before it :P.
very nice!

can't wait for this next year =)
i dont know of the book in which you speak but you've spurred my interest in it...
Never read it, don't plan on reading it. I will come up with my own conclusions about things.
Why, doesn't it tickle your fancy tiliz? It is really a good book, but if you're not into that sort of book, then fair enough :P
Wasn't "Angels and Demons" the prequel? I'm about to start reading it.
Angles and Demons does take place before the Da Vincci Code.
