Alrighty, so aside from my normal rant, this discussion I am not going to participate in beyond this point, aside from keeping it on point with questions.
For those of you genious souls on this site who post in the forums. Particularly that thread of "witches"
Then do us a favor and read this question, its really simple.
What powers make up what a witch should be able to do?
What is the measurable and quantifiable thing which makes a witch a witch instead of just a housewife who prays to nature?
that being said. What is your EXPLANATION on what makes any other caste of magick user that way?
This should be fun....enjoy.
The Resident Infernalist
I've personally never heard of any specific "powers" defining a magick user's caste (non-RPG, that is). Most often, the "caste" someone chooses is whatever they feel most comfortable calling themselves, or it depends on the particular "school" of magick they've chosen to practice. I'm interested (for entertainment purposes, hint hint) at what some others will say...
Since this doesn't seem specific enough and is to broad for the likes of this forum. Lets refine it up a bit.
Powers being:
psychometry, telepathy, any form of psychokenesis
Spellcasting methods which call on demons, elements, herbs, stones, planets, stars, etc etc...
Who says a housewife who prays to nature isn't a witch???
*gets out a broom and does a bit of hedgewitchery* ;P
Well I also was lost on the whole Housewife thingy, LOLI mean what does that have to do with Witchcraft and witches. I myself do not see why a person would have to have a *castes* just because they may be considered a witch. I do spells, respect the earth and nature, I even have made candles in my time LOL yet I do not even consider myself a witch, I just take it as a part of whom I am.... So not sure about all those questions and such.
hmm, well the whole thing with the house wife threw me off a bit but I think that I might be able to answer your question. I have worked with candles, herbs, nature, and stones but do not consider myself a witch as far as that goes. I don't really understand why there would be a "castes" system because it would seem injust to me. I do not know of any specific powers that be that would classify one as a witch.
I find nothing at all confusing about Infernal's question. He was attempting to mead out those who would post about the religious aspects of witchcraft. That aside, I'm also hopeful to find some good legitimate answers to the question.
Agreed, Jesuis, the terms witch and Wiccan have become so muddied to become synonymous. A witch in the strictest sense is a magick user and may not necessarily be a Wiccan or some other flavor of Pagan. As witchcraft is not a religion but a vocation.
you two have it right.
If you muddle through the filth that is prevelant in the thread found here

There is every single response based on powers that a witch has.
This thread is attempting to ask the question...Okay so a witch has powers.
What are the powers they are supposed to possess? And are you sure they are witches because they can do such things.
This is not a discussion about god, the devil, or religion. No wiccans need apply as they are not all witches. Very few actually are. So for the rest of you, who see it like I see it, as a vocational training and profession. What are the "powers" which allows one to use the title "witch"?
