I have read many historical subjects about the falling of civilizations, the mind behind the society, theologies, aspirations, culture and of course size as major variants of the probabilities of their impending demise, lately the news for the past 8 years have all brought some insight of similarity or yet symptoms for a better word for this clues that have brought me to the idea and conclusions that we are or entering in the big transition and the biggest and dangerous one in all human history, why you may ask? Well we all known about the enviromental issues, overpopulating hazard, some incurable diseases, economical depression, the major source of energy deficiency, global warfare and many sort of things brought by/since the Idustrialization lead to the globalization scope. When I see all this and look at the past I can smell something cataclysmic is going to happen and not just natural, but human-made self destruction, this major shift have to take place around 20-70 years from now, the simple reason we aren't doing anything but the symptoms keep pilling up, a big and most dangerous shift of all times because it cannot kill possibly a civilization, like ; Mayans, Aztecs, egyptians or Roman but the whole world is at stake because we have technology to do so. And opposers of any new world plan can do it any time, and don't think one side is going to stay hitted, it will punch back as well. I think we may be living in the most important era of past and future human history/outcomes. What do you think about the major transition ? anything from prediction that you can add? any experience led you to think we might be heading for something big? what are/is your take on this?

Well some of those civilizations that "mysteriously" disappeared were also attacked and killed by others, wiped out completely because it went against the grain so to speak. That's what happens when you have enemies that seek control and power. They tend to wipe out everything or keep the important valuables kept away for themselves. Doomsayers often claim or put it in people's minds that we are all going to face a global tradegy and often when people write these things, these people can't see around the globe to know if ALL creatures or ALL of mankind or ALL of life ceased to exist. If that's the case, then how are we around today? Of course we're going to be hit with waves of threats by multitudes of things in the future but that's how it's always been. No matter what comes our way, as long as energy is alive, there will always be life continued.

Not necesarily talking about life, but about us as civilization..The reason of the economical depression is not lack of money, more lack of jobs for the many people we have and that will keep coming, if it comes more in 10 years we will be in a deeper pile of $#!T, Times before and colonization, invasion and diseases are nothing compare to the concept of life we are living today in any way, not in population size, enviromental and energy source or even vision of life, we are not walking to work anymore, we dont eat the same way, we dont fight the same way, and the jobs were not a problem in those days, we ar ein the times of competition for survival, lets go make a war to benefit ourself and the other starve, and bla bla goes on. The minute a new world plan is implemented to confront this problems are the day that we will have opposers thinking of sending a gift and this times aren't boats with diseased people on our shores. And its happening when we are forced to buy new cars in about 5-15 years, maybe by 2010 all companies may have a new hybrid or electric model for the enviroment and oil issues but in about 5-15 more will be coming and the industries will direct the sales to those fines, oil cars may become obsolete or expensive to handle.

People have been predicting the "end times" for hundreds of years. For them, it's always just around the corner. But it never seems to come. Two minutes of intensive research (Google) reveals this:

(snip)
The Indian Vedas and Mayan texts from ancient Mesoamerica describe a cycle of creation and destruction, death and rebirth. Similarly, in ancient Persia, the Zoroastrians saw the universe as a cosmic battlefield between the forces of good and evil. Christianity quickly picked up on this theme.

For instance, according to many historians, medieval Christians were seized by fears of the coming Apocalypse. In fact, Dr. Richard Landes, director of Boston University’s Center for Millennial Studies, believes that the great spate of cathedral-building in the 11th century followed the “terror of the year 1000,” in which entire villages made pilgrimages to repent for their sins before what people then believed was Christ’s imminent return and the ensuing battle between Good and Evil.

...Even as late as the 1600s, scientist Sir Isaac Newton was obsessed with trying to calculate the coming of the End Times, as promised in the Book of Revelations.

(snip)

And the secular doomsayers are just as crazy.

As for economical issues, i have spoken to a couple people that have great ideas of how that can be fixed, but our leaders can't be going around putting a bandaid on the problems such as handing out bail money to the car companies. They should have went bankrupt and have their policies looked over and remade. Some believe we should go back to how it was during the times of our constitutional rights. Those were set for a reason. There are many issues and many good ideas out there that could be put to use but not enough voices are being heard. That may be to our downfall in the end.

The Mayans (as mentioned above) mapped out a calendar that plotted the cycle of cosmic consciousness.

That calendar ends in 2012 (or 2011 depending on who interpreted it). If you search on youtube for Ian Lungold he has some pretty amazing videos that explains the calendar and what to expect leading up to 2012.

It's pretty interesting stuff, even if you don't go as far as believing in the "end of the world as we know it" stuff.

There have been recent rumblings that everything will come to a head (or come to an end?) in December 2012. Planetary alignments, ancient prophecies, etc. I plan to continue living my life as best I can. I am not holding my breath, but if it happens, it happens. My hope is that even if Humans continue to act stupidly and make bad, selfish decisions to the point where we wipe ourselves out, at least there will be more resourceful and self-reliant life forms that will carry on without us. The real tragedy, in my mind, would be some short-sighted Human mechanism that destroys all life and all capability of life on the planet.
However, I have come to believe that Humans generally do not give enough credit to the momentum of natural forces, or the resourcefulness of what we often smugly consider “lower” life forms. I hold out some hope that, even if we Humans screw ourselves over, some life and some natural forces will carry on without us, on some level of consciousness. In the meantime, I try not to be selfish, short-sighted, or take anything for granted. I am not always good at it, but I try. We all should try.

Having skimmed some of the responses to Revenous's question.....

I don't think he's meaning various paranormal predictions.

He's talking more along the lines of following certain lines of current events to their potential conclusions.

The Environment- various scientific conferences and their results, having to do with over-population, depleting resources, global warming trends, etc.

War- Which, as resources continue to deplete, countries are already falling into states of crisis/warfare.

The U.S. Economic Mess- We owe China bigtime...what if they decide we've "defaulted our loans"? What if we did. As more an more American workers lose jobs, less and less is coming in, in the way of income taxes.

Rev's asked a really good question, and you don't need to look to any Mayan Calendar, or Nostradamus prediction to see we may very well be in a world of crap between now and the next 70 years.

Amen!! to that ~DecemberNemesis~ with this can now all you direct your response to the present outlook of the situation. Yeah I completely understand the use of paranormal, astronomical and even philosophical way of look for the ends of time by the use of calendars, predictions and stories of tribes passed from generation to generation, but Im more grounded in to the present situation we are living, The major shift or transition is a concept of either we change or we die, this is what I mean, we are not talking about; "The ends of times" for Romans, or Mayans or North American tribes by the advent of other civilization invading/colonizing their land, Because we simply grew from that phase, there is nothing else to colonize, only invade or attack; The problem of this days aren't either about territory or expansion anymore, more about economy and enviroment by extension warfare and/or control, our change must be about changing or redirecting our way of life, the shift between the old ways of the screwups of the 18th century Industrial revolution lack of foreshadowing the outcomes in a bad sense or the coming of the future and fruits of our knowledge and science to do what is right. Now this may sound more easy that it can be, As I said we are living in the most important generation of our times this either determine our future or demise in the process, so I guess if we don't do something, we will have to learn the hardway and hope many few survives in the outcome events.

“Cosmic consciousness” is the phrase I want to focus on. So many people view the end times as a physical event- who is to say that it is not a social/community based event?

We forget that looking through time there are numerous places/things that simply “die” and then are absorbed by something else.

For example Greek culture was absorbed/changed by the Romans, then Rome fell and it was the “Dark ages” until the renaissance occurred, etc. These were all the dying of a way of life and thinking that was then taken by the new lines of thoughts. Sometimes it can involve war (the French Revolution) other times people simply move on and away from the focus they had.

Yes I know this is an OVER simplification of our cultural history, but I think it should be remembered when looking at “end times”. We can and will continue to evolve until we have either destroyed the natural resources of the planet or altered our way of living to live with the land.

Each time period has it’s potential to “shift” their fate, often it is ignored or buried within some other agenda. Does this mean 2012 is our death? Metaphorically speaking it might be the death of our ideals and our influence globally, that said our mark has been made, and that cannot be erased.

Spiritually though I think there is much movement towards growth and development, so perhaps our society will merely shift from being physically motivated to having a more spiritual focus.

I think humans can endure most things that we could possibly bring about ourselfs . If through economic colapse wars begin to break out , even to the extent of a global or world war . Which in my view could happen , as we become global many smaller religions and societys will be asimulated and forced into a more global way of thinking to survive . People that dont want this will fight to keep their individualism . There will always be resistance to a new world order .

What i see as a more likely , is that enviromental conditions will be our ultimate downfall . The world periodacally destroys its self , Magnetic polar shifts , Shifts in the hydro thermal conveyor . We are already seeing drastic changes in climate , polar ice regions are melting , causing large amounts of fresh water to pour into the sea . If this stops the hydo thermal conveyor , the seas will stagnate and die , so will most life on earth . I think humans are undoubtedly responsible for global warming , but what we have done pales in insignificance compared to what has happend on earth before. Humans could survive an ice age , but the death of most of the plant and animal life would make human existance impossible . Unless we teraform mars or something .

If we all die would it be such a bad thing . All civilisations rise and fall . I,am sure a new species would replace us in years to come . Look at the dinosaurs.

Well dinosaurs didnt have civilizations or tools that we know off by any archaeological findings, so i guess they didn't have much of a choice like we have but you are most deffinetly right, the world specially US will want to unite into one secular order in order to change our way of doing things, and shifting it into the "right direction" maybe is true, but behind every truth their is a fault so it will come at high prices, and that others will opose and will want to promote individualism, culture and beliefs thats very true and they will fight for it like anyone would for their identity as descendant of each culture, but yeah don't you think we are already merged? or globalized? dont we have franchise in every corner of the planet? why we let profucts come from other parts of the world and not just make them in each state? the exchange is that make association, when you have a fair trade and help each other economy is a sense of trust with each other. And if nay country decide to attack, well US have a base everywhere in the world and disarm any other country with possible weapon of mass destruction, so my guess that it will be imposed in time and any possible threat will be neutralized..

One must be careful not to feed mass hysteria, but to educate the masses.

Over statements , verses fair rational assessment of environmental, economical, and social issues. Radicals, and reactionaries tend to beat the table in discontent, yet seldom feel obliged to engineer basic responses.

I do belive that the global ecconomies need to expand and feed consumerism in order to do so , has driven it to pillage and assimilate many smaller economies . I think wars like Iraq , Afghanistan and the dimond wars in Sierra Leone are examples of what happens when things are taken and people rebel againt the blatant theft . Super powers will always win . Maybe some one should oppose them . What if the global economy continues to grow and consume uninterupted the rich will grow richer and the poor will grow poorer . The consumption of all the worlds natural resorces to fuel this greed and growth is a sad state of affairs . I think it will bring it,s own well deserved demise .

On the other hand , some smaller ecconomies choose to join this prosperous global economy . People are being paid better wages and standards of life improve . If things can tick along slowly improving the lives of everyone , maybe there isn,t such a problem . New renewable enegies are being slowly introduced . Maybe we are doing just enough . Maybe we are ment to become a more unified race . I think the reality is a combination of the two .

Any problem must first be placed in context, this allows examination, rather then blame, and reaction. Fanatics resign to extremes.
