Back in the Slavic days different Cults practised some odd things. The Bogomils (circa 10th Century AD) dug up the bodies of those they thought were possessed with spirits as they were considered unfit for burial. What odd practises or traditions have you heard about in Vampire Cults?
I would never consider it a Vampire Cult.... I find that false usage of the term. Vampire in itself is not directly related with these cults but may over a period influence the legend. I feel that the practice still exist in some remote parts of the world but I doubt those who still have some belief in them will ever risk their family or anyone for that matter to do such things. It is risky to claim anyone posessed today.
It is still interesting to chat about. I don't directly know much because I never headed in that root in my studies. Maybe I should.
Well, to begin with there was the Paulicians, and they believed that God had two sons and that one of them was the devil because of the timing of Jesus’s death, i.e the transition times, twilight, cock’s crow noonday etc.. I will come back to this thread tomorrow and write more about the subject but in the meantime you can find some research material on the BBC’s website about this under Slavic Vampire Cults.
Now Paulicians...there is an interesting topic!
I heard in some places they bury you outside the graveyard gate if they think your spirit was corrupted, or you were possessed.
I have heard of places that still burn the bodies of those they consider corupt so that they won't be able to be reborn
Sounds like the old witch hunts to me people sometimes over react to things they don't understand.
I ma pretty sure their is a bady berry somehwere everywhere around the world and that pretty much every town has its place that has a spooy story about vampires barried or something like that, we can find in about an areaof maybe 20 km you can find a tracoe fo vampirism and vampires or others barried
Interesting! I was rating some of the Vampire accessories, and came across this one. I thought it might be relevant to this discussion.

The Chinese Vampires or Chiang-Shih is greatly different from the traditional western vampires.
There is a Chinese belief that there are two souls inhabiting every body. The superior or rational soul, and the inferior or irrational soul sometimes called p'ai or p'o. The inferior soul is the one that inhabits the body in its fetal stage; and at death, sometimes does not wish to leave the body. This creates the Chiang-Shih.
The Chiang-Shih's creation can be spurred on by a violent death, whether it be suicide, hanging, drowning, or suffocation; or it can be created by angering a spirit. Be sure to bury your relatives in a timely fashion, or else! Also keep animals away from the bodies. If a cat jumps over a dead body this can also create a Chiang-Shih.
The Chiang-Shih also have many differences from western vampires in the way that they act. They have difficulty walking because of the pain and stiffness of being dead so they hop instead.
This may also have something to do with the traditional Chinese Burial robes, which was supposed to bind the legs tightly together.
They also have great strength and have been known to tear the limbs from their victims.
Mind you, I did not write this, I copied and pasted it. Have to keep it honest!
Crying Mist, is English your first language? I had a little difficulty understanding your post...
