Doesn't the whole "pure blood" in fiction make anyone wonder - where do the pure bloods that are "born" of vampires come from? In most stories, vampires aren't able to produce children.
Laurell K Hamilton explained it as a young vampire who gets his temperature high enough (hot tub) but he has to have a human woman - not a pure blood.
Other authors have created the dhampyre; again, not a pure blood.
Even Sonja Blue isn't a pure blood because she's a living vampire, but wasn't born.
So, where do these vampire children come from?
I can only say they either are bitten or have had one vampire parent and one human parent
She's a wonderful author are you refer to the book Narcicuss in Chains? I love that book
I believe that pure blood can save tainted blood
Different folklore from different areas of the world. Some people beleive that vampires can give birth like any other creature. Some fell that since they are undead they can't have chilren as it's unnatural.
Well is it possible that there is no such thing as pure blood and tainted blood... as with all societies it could boil down to social structure. Such as pure blood could mean an older vampire one that has lived for a very long time and therefore lost many of their human traits. Tainted blood could mean a younger 'newly born' vampire that still has strong human traits and emotions.
Just a thought!
i think that is a very good question, i was told by my moms former exchange student from tiland say that they belive vampires are like crictes and they mate and lay egges in the people, then when they or either old age or anything then they are born after they are burried, that is in her opion how tiland vampires are born
Thats an interesting theory...
I guess the thing that needs to be truly cleared up is whether a 'pure' blood vampire can mate and have children. The answer to that would solve the mystery.
well now I do belive most of her books are fiction so I would not base any facts on them I was born this way for as long as I can remember I have been "drawn" to blood
I kind of like the mate and lay eggs theory, but would not want to admit that.
I do think that this is a good question. But unfortunatly it is also the chicken and the egg question. Theories will be the bain of us in the end. What ever happened to good old imagination?
But in Blade2 we saw pure bloods. So vamps can have little kiddies.
blade 2 is a movie and hollywood likes to think it knows all
If a vampire does not age, how would a vampire baby even be able to exisit? Maybe a half breed would be able to but that is still stretching it.
It is a very good question I never thought about. I wouldn't think it to be possible for a pure blood to exist.
And Nerual if you say that about Blade 2 then we have to say it about the books mentioned in this thread too. It is all fiction and molded by Hollywood.
I have a Mortal Mother and a Vampire for a father. As Dramphyr we arn't immortal we just live a very long time.As for a pure blood, from an Anthropologic point of view ther is no creature from this planet that has a pure bloodline.Human or otherwise.
KA
i think that in order to be pure blood hte young vampire would have to be changed when it was very young and would have to have a surrogate mother and father. each of the surrgate parents would open a wound in the child and bleed it until it was just hanging on by a thread of blood and give up a considerable amount of blood to transfer into the child. this would not be quite so dangerous as the human losing blood because vampires can heal very quickly. once this has been done for once every year until the child is thirteen years old the child will have to be bled, not quite so much as the first time, and have a considerably smaller portion of blood transfered. then all the human blood would have left them and they would be a pure blood vampire. although, the surrogate parents would also have to be pure blood.
Pure bloods are from Myth, legend and Hollywood. They make for an interesting diversion, but nothing I can take seriously.
Pure blood generally refers to the blood of the origin of vampyres. The closer your line is to the source the purer your blood line.
Born a vampire is possibly the only chance of ever being a vampire.
Whether it flows in your parents vains or not, it comes.
I think that what movies show or what books show is mere fiction...
I think that I could have been pure blood if I had born knowing I was a vampire... but not the concept of pure blood that the books say...
Maybe I'm wrong...
i think this ones fake i think the exsistence of makeing children for vamps is impossible unless they mean giving life to a human to be vampire
Pure blood? Eh, i dont believe theres such a thing as a "pure blooded" vampire. If theres such a thing then why are they hiding from everyone else?
Pure blood as in Pedigree??
I am not sure if any blood can be deemed pure!! and who what would scope it as such?

I HAVE to say this but each time I see Myth and read the word Myth, I hear Peter Sellers in the pink panther movie.. saying ' is it a myth ?" as in.. MOTH..
Not mocking it I just find humor in that....
Well if it's a novel one can make the characters be and do whatever they like...Make up their own folklore and add real things within it. That sometimes makes thing difficult when books border on real life...one sometimes doesn't know where to draw the lines. As far a first born or pure line...found the Holy Grail lately, lol.
