Just thought I would share my experience with you guys hope it helps. I use Verizon and I just got off the phone with them about using it on the cruise.
You need to set your phone up for international usage. Just call them they will do it on the phone. You can cancel it anytime they said with no penalty it is not like a contract.
Carnival Glory is on their list for phone usuage it is 2.49 a minute
Belize, Cozumel, and Freeport all have towers for your use. 1.29 a minute for Belize and Freeport. Cozumel is .99 cents.
Hope this helps anyone who is using Verizon or was concerned about keeping in touch with anyone.
The official word from sprint:
http://www.sprintpcs.com/common/popups/pop-cruiseship.html
basically they'll let you use it and consider it roaming
I'm planning on using the excuse "my cellphone doesn't work" to not call anyone for one whole week :)
well you can do that, your better half is going with you :P.
There are only 2 people that can call and I'll pick up though
I called AT&T,,,,In Mexico it is .99 per min, Belize is 3.49 per min, Roatan 2.29 and Bahamas 2.29. on the ship it is 2.49 per min. This is international roaming. You can add a plan for 5.99 but you have to keep it for at least 2 billing cycles and it shaves about .50 off each price.....
Company cell phone.
I don't have to worry. And if I happen not to pick up (wink, wink, nudge, nudge), I guess that means I am not receivig service.
AT & T customers can go to this site:
http://www.wireless.att.com/travelguide/coverage/roaming/step1.jsp;csessionid=TC4Z4SRFISR3HB4R2ELCFFA
It'll ask for your number, phone model and manufacturer, as well as the places you're inquiring about (Mexico, Belize, Honduras, Bahamas, and Cruise Ships-Carnival Cruise Lines.)
It'll tell you if your phone will work there, how much it'll cost, etc...
Wow - thanks everyone for looking that information up!
I also wanted to say that I just got off the phone with Bank of America. I called to let them know we are going on a trip because the last time I left the state, they froze the card because they claimed it "seemed suspicious." What a nightmare that was!
Anyway, thought it might save a headache for someone here.
