‘There’ in this case being where I used to work; where I’m currently removing redundant computers.

“Hello, who is it?” I’d asked.

It was Mike of IT… ‘just checking to see if your mobile phone is working.’

It was.

And, then he’d justified the call (in my eyes) with a genuine enquiry that I might know the answer to.

So, from anti-mobile to mobile phone appreciation in one day?

My friend is Columbian: and her English could be described as different from mine.

It is both emotive and allegorical, through literal translation and can be very beautiful, I think.

Last night on the phone she had made a remark about our relationship, which I had found delight in.

She had said that ‘we are almost too close to the fire.’
