Death

You can almost feel it creeping in

The darkness is upon you

Engulfing, embracing, caressing

As soft as velvet and dark as night

It seizes you in it's coldness

You cannot resist, it is too tempting

You feel the cold in your veins

But somehow it feels like home

A familiar touch, one felt before

Give in to it and let go the agony

Let it take all the pain away

No more suffering, no more torment

For it is an old friend, one long forgotten

A familiar touch for the soul

Taking your last breath away

No pain, only dark bliss

Velvety soft and bittersweet

As you slowly sink into the darkness

Death has taken you.

Remembering

02:31 Nov 05 2007
Times Read: 579

As I sit by my window

I watch the autumn leaves fall

I remember my dad

His favorite time of year

His children playing in the yard

Laughing, no worries

His gentle smile

A simple gesture of love

Happy days gone by

As we are older now

We have grown apart

But I remember those days

The leaves fall like snow

A cool, crisp breeze blows

But my heart is warm

With memories of dad

Autumn holds such beauty

Just as I hold my dad in my heart

And I will always remember

Just as my brothers, I'm sure

Even though we are older

The love that was given

The time that we spent

The memories that we made

Remember.
