It’s Halloween and us vampires love to reek havoc. Since I’m 267 now, I can finally go out with friends instead of staying in the castle alone. I go with Catty and Vanessa, of course. Tonight, I think I might get my first tattoo. To Master and our ancestors, I am going to get one with all the vampires who past away.

We get to the tattoo parlor and I tell him that I want a mural of our ancestors and a mysterious girl who is destined to be mine and where I want her is in the middle. I point to my lower back. “That’s where I want it. She is important, so make is very detailed. Thank you.” I said to him. He nodded.

“It will take at least two hours or more. Also, you can just pay for the girl and half of the background while I give you the other half and our ancestors and their dates for free.” He said smiling. I smile back and look over to Catty and Vanessa. They are watching me taking my shirt off and me getting excited. I like the needle pressing into my skin. “It’s hand made from my dad and I. I just want to warn you that if you move, it will get messed up. So warn me when you need to move. By the way, my name is Dray.”

I smile and start thinking about tonight after my tattoo. “Thank you for telling me, Dray. My name is Serenity. The ones that are sitting right there is Catty and Vanessa.” They both wave and I smile. I ask Dray when I can get up and walk around. He said in a few minutes when he is done with the whole outline.

Finally, I get to stand up and walk around. A few guys look in the window and see me with no shirt on. He tells me that I have an hour and a half to go. “How do you like it?” He asks as he points to my back. “ I like it!” I tell him. He gets me some blood to drink to calm me down. “Do you know who this girl is? Where is she from? Is she one of us? Is she from our time?” He keeps asking a lot of questions. I answer them.

“Just do a good job. She is from our time but I don’t know her, yet. All I know is that she is destined to be found by me.” Catty comes into the room to tell me that Vanessa left fifteen minutes ago. I roll my eyes and kiss her. Dray is still working on the tattoo. It has been two hours and he is working on the color of our ancestors.

It is 11:30 at night and we’re all hungry. I hear a gun shot, but ignore it. I hear it again and I tell them to get on the floor. When Dray and I hit the floor, I feel him mess up on the tattoo. “Damn it. I forgot to warn him on the movement.” I say to myself. I look around to see if there is something I can hide behind. “Stay down and don’t move! Catty where are you?” I raise my voice. She raises her head to let me know that she is alive.

I look around while my head was up. I get shot in the arm. Dray tries to help me but he is getting shot at. Finally, they leave and we can continue with our night. “Baby, you’re hurt. Here, I’ll get you something to cover it.” Catty said, hugging me. I look at the tattoo. On the mystery girl’s face, there is a scratch. Dray wanted to rub it off, but I told him to leave it. “Are you sure? I can do her face again.” I told him to leave it.

Another hour goes by and he finally finishes it. Catty walks in and sees my looking at it. “She’s beautiful, like you, Serenity.” I nod. I pay my 200 pecks and turn away from his desk. Dray grabs my arm and says, “Denn die todten reiten schnell.” I look away for a moment and then look back, nodding. We walk out into the night looking around for easy prey. “What was that about? What did he say?” Catty stopped and asked. I told her not to worry about it. I spotted prey. Of course, I let my baby girl go first. She gets her prey within 20 minutes. I don’t feed.

We decided to go to a park instead of home. “Catty, do you really want to know what he said to me? I will tell you.” I said, holding her. She nods. “Before I met you and Vanessa, I was a Death Dealer for the Master. It means, For the Dead Travel Fast. Which is me. I bring death to Him and I do it quietly and fast. We move here and there.” I try to explain it to her. She understands me for some odd reason. “You must not let Master know that I told you. He will kill me if I told anyone.” I warned her.

Vanessa is asleep when we get home. She is on the couch, so Catty and I take my bed. “I hate sunrises. They scare me.” Catty says, yawning. I know personally we can’t die from the sun. I have no clue if she does or not. She falls asleep instantly. I want to go for a walk. So I get out of bed to get dressed and I leave. For some odd reason, I like the sun. I can’t burn at all or get darker than my normal skin colour.

I walk around the village, buying food. I hear smart-ass comments about me. “Look at her, she is one of them. His pet. She is contaminated now. A slut, she is.” I hear a woman express. I just keep walking. I grab fruit, meat, and blood for the castle. I walk inside the door and I see Master in his robe. I made him his usual for breakfast. “Where have you been, Serenity?” He asks. I told him I went around the village for food.

“You need to be careful. There are hunters out there wanting to kill our kind. I don’t want anything to happen to my favorite pet.” He smiles. I brush his hand off of my shoulder. Vanessa comes around the corner to hug me. I walk away from her. “You know Vanessa, you really pissed me off last night. I expected you to wait for me to get done with my tattoo. Why did you leave?” I said. She shrugged.

Catty walks into the sunroom where I am at. “She’s being a big baby. She wanted to leave because she was bored.” Catty announced. “I don’t know why she wouldn’t tell me. Do you think she is seeing someone else besides us?” I implied. We both shrugged to my question. Next thing, Vanessa walks out to hug me. I let her. Then, she walks back into the other room. Catty, frustrated and angry, goes after Vanessa.

“Master, I am going to go for a walk.” I tell him. I can hear them arguing over last night and I don’t want to hear it. I walk around the village and end up at my old hut. I go behind it. “Are you okay, sis?” Selene asked. I am surprised that she is here and talking to me. I shake my head with tears streaming down my face. She sits down beside me and hugs me for the first time.

“Catty and Vanessa are arguing because Vanessa went home last night when I was getting my first tattoo. Catty got mad and is yelling at her while we are speaking. Why are you here? If Master sees that I am talking to you, he will ban me from going out of the castle.” I tell her. Selene nods and sits down next to me.

“You got a tattoo?” Acting surprised. I showed her of course. She thought it was awesome. “How do you know that girl?” She asked. I shrugged. She sighs and finally tells me why she is here. “Serenity, I don’t want to stay with them anymore. They are abusive. I talked to Master if I can move in with you. He said it was fine if you said it. Besides, I missed you so much! Where is mum and dad? Their hut is empty.” She said crying.

Selene got up to walk away when I said, “I’m sorry that you never got to meet your parents. My father died when I was ten and you were 1 years old. Mum died along with him. Your father, on the other hand, abandoned you. I don’t know who killed them, but when I find out, they will be dead! That is a promise.”
