Life has not been easy for me
That is something that I cannot deny
Plenty of times that I have laughed
But more times have made me cry
Struggling through life is a given for me
The road has never been made easy
Many decisions I have made in my life
Left me feeling ill and queasy
But because of the life that I have had
I am stronger and can endure anything
So let life throw at me what it will
I will conquer whatever it may bring
They say what doesn't kill us makes us stronger
I am not sure if that is something that I believe
Because it would be so easy to do me in
For I wear my heart upon my sleeve
I am hoping that for all that I have been through
that something good can be made of it all
That even I can learn from my mistakes
And pick myself up after I stumble and fall
I have had to dust myself off and continue on
though it seemed at times that I had lost all hope
Lessons learned about survival
And having to learn how to cope
I would not wish my life on anyone
because the ones I love had to suffer
I never had someone in which to lean on
to assist, protect and to buffer
One thing is certain I have a strong will
And nothing will keep me down for long
Because I still have hopes and dreams
To find a place in which I belong

Watching as life passes by
Not having a choice
Releasing a deep sigh
Wanting to be held during the night
Feeling the warmth of a body next to me
Knowing there is someone there
Something that just isn't to be
Night after night it is the same
Aching to feel a lover's touch upon my skin
Thinking about times that have passed
And those who would not let my love in
Lonely nights spent by myself
Cold and alone in my bed
Wishing that my lover would appear
Instead of existing only in my head
