Widows 7 or 8 ??

Opinions or advice much appreciated.
Has anyone had experience of the new Windows 8 OS ? I am in a quandry as to if I should take up the offer of a free upgrade to Windows 8 (given the fiasco of some previous OS such as Vista/ME etc) ... is it useful ... helpful and advanced or full of flaws as some Windows OS have been in the past ?
I am quite happy with my current OS ... so reluctant to change without hearing about other peoples experiences.

I detest it. We are trialling it on a computer at the moment. It's very much fronted like a mobile phone, and very very quirky.
