I was chatting on another site with an associate who also has an account here. He casually asked me, "Oh, you've been on VR for that long and you're still only fifty-something? Your autorefresh must suck! What do you use?"
He was offended at my lack of prompt response. I couldn't respond right away, simply couldn't, I was too busy cursing. If there was ever a reason for the virtualization of *face-palm*, this was it. It took all my strength not to leap through the monitor and strangle the man for his glaring idiocy. I spent the next half hour explaining the severity of
DoS attacks and cyber-terrorism penalties.
To all of you who use auto refreshers:
STOP!
It is not only against the VR TOS it is a serious legal offence. You can get in
huge trouble in addition to being BANNED from this site. Not to mention it's simply bad form. It's totally against the spirit of the Rave! We aren't here for useless statuses, when did level become what VampireRave is all about?? I refuse to accept this recent downward trend and reiterate vehemently,
if you are utilizing auto refreshers stop immediately, you can cause the whole site to crash, massive stores of information to be lost or rendered inaccessible (it's happened in the past) and general mayhem.
I've since heard reports of mentors and higher ups telling new users that this is a handy way to level up quickly, with a slimy wink and a nudge of course. I'm disgusted by this behavior and do not allow yourself to be
BANNED for someone else's jackassery.

Those recommending this to lower members are most likely Society Masters concerned with status in the standings, whether being told directly by a Master or indirectly through another member. When caught it affects the society itself little, it's already gained from the favor earned. They'll be caught. Several Admins (not mentioning names) have additional accounts. It's only a matter of time before someone advises an Admin how to cheat the system.
