Warped and twisted
Uncommon and expensive
Hard and sometimes difficult
Left sitting there on the shelf
Few realize the beauty below
Even fewer are willing to put effort into it
Work and time that it takes
To unearth it's wonders
The swirling colors
The purple, the green
The various shades of brown
The never ending and meandering patterns
Very few realize that
True beauty exists
Under the rough exterior
Very few can see the finished product
Very few are willing to work for it
Most just take the softer choice
That shows it's beauty on the outside
That shows you the finished product
Immediately
But what's the fun in that?
Black Walnut or Oak?
A metaphor for choices in wood and choices in people,
Black Walnut is difficult to work with and kind of expensive but makes for a really pretty finished product with it's various shades of purple, green, brown, and unique grain.
Woods like oak and cherry are more common because they are softer woods and usually have less defects so they are easier to work with, but they also are limited in color variety and typically have a plain and average grain pattern.
