The Winter of Night

so long ago. i felt the earth beneath me.

so long ago, I could smell the brisk air.

So long ago, I Knew my heart beat.

So long ago, I was human.

Darkness filled my vision, the spider webs invisible blankets of my surrounding's.

little sound reached my ears yet that which did sounded of demon talons reaching for thy heart.

"CRACK"

Slowly so as not to wake the dead silver beams of moon fell upon my darkened features the freshness of the winters air breathed so life into me once more.

A Talon, I sensed reaching towards me, the heavy weight on my heart slowly being risen, but still as familiar weight like cloth or muscles of my always tensed physic was risen I still did not stir my eyes cold stone as metal pressed on, as it had for so long.

A Hissing noise, the clatter of metal and wood, the sound of death, a dull of pain and agony, soon a taste filled my mouth, oh such a taste of the sweetest womans kiss, and the fullest wine, the sting of metal hinted to its divine origin.

Dully a thudding pound sound reached my ears the unfamiliar sound engulfed the narrow walls and brought again a deeper breath from winters bite, rising slowly I opened my eyes only to be blind a needle of pain wracked my heart, ( It was only later to my great embarrassment and relief that i found someone trying to be clever had slipped a mask of the dead over my face. ) coughing and lapping at my lips I tasted more of the divine flavor and power of such nourishment I had not tasted, flexing I tested my strength feeling veins and muscle pull remembering themselves like remembering a song long since sung.

I Climbed from the stone to test my legs like my arms they did not fail me, I walked into moonlight night, Remembering and testing further my slowly returning strength, again the beating of my heart rose as I walked what seemed a path of old, one of which has no name and does not show in the day, I walked upon a stone.

Inscribed upon it words like poisoned steel, My strength lost I fell my tears streaming upon the grave of my sweet Vo'el.

To hold her once more, to call her my own, falling, crying rage and sorrow now does my heart divide, to know that no longer can I hold my sweet vo'el, gods so cruel to curse me twice, forever to live in pain, to never hold my sweet vo'el. Raising my arms I shake and grasp my fingers tight my fist gleaming with morning dew. "It Wasn't FAIR!"

Lashing with my hands in gnarled shaped I rip the tatters of my robe revealing scars running across tensed muscle.

Kneeling once more I bare my fangs letting loose a howl to the full moon, a howl held in for countless ages, she was dead when I left this world but only now could my heart and mind catch up.

I slept amongst the snow coated ground my flesh cold and taught.

The trees my shade and sanctuary I gathered my strength. When again I opened my eyes there was no snow and my skin now shimmered with the passionite heat of the evening sun.
