I spent so long when I was first diagnosed looking into what this condition could do to me, and panicking about that, that I didn't look into what is happening too me.

Hashimotos disease affects 0.3 people in every 1000, so with one in every 3000 having this disease, you would think that more people would know about it... but thats not the case.

It is in the auto immune family of diseases, which include, type 2 diabetes, fibromialgia, rhumatoid arthritis, lupus and graves disease, but it is the least known.

It effects the thyroid initially, killing it off, with many sufferes having a thyroid that resembles swiss cheese.

It also makes us 3 times more likely to develop thyroid cancer, but they say that 1 in 3 of us will develop cancer in our life time, i guess I am going to be more prone to thyroid cancer.

But it's not just that, that can cause problems in life.

There is the fatigue, which can strike at any time, and makes keeping a full time job increedibly difficult. Also aches and pains, which randonmly occur.

Then there is the brain fog, which leads to verbal dyslexia, meaning things you say can make no sense what so ever, which is a bit of a nightmaree when you are a chatterbox like me. I can talk for england, just hate when I am having a bad day.

Also this causes depression, and anxiety, means hair falls out, and a thinning of the eyebrows (which will be welcome when it occurs, saves me having to wax them, lol)

also a sensation that something is caught in your throat, mine usualy happens when I have an anxiety attack.

There are also links with hashimotos and MS and ME... not looking forward to developing symptoms like that.

I am 26 years old, and some days I feel like I am 90. I end up in so much pain just washing dishes, pains in my hips that take my breath away, so doing the dishes takes me forever, as I do it in small stints...

I wish there was a cure for this, so I could get back to being a normal 26 year old, and not have to plan going out once a week, when i used to be out 5 nights a week, lol...

maybe one day
