Fly free,
Free fall,
Fall over,
Over done,
Done in,
In love,
Love lost,
Lost life,
Life long,
Long time,
Time eternal.
(I was bored in a class a few years ago and absentmindedly wrote this down in my notes.)
You let me die,
As you heard me cry,
You told your loving lies,
You watched the tears slide down my face,
Your lips playing with a smile as my life was shattered,
You'll always be there for me?
You'll always love me?
What a joke.
You never really were there for me,
But I'll always be there for you,
I may be dead,
But I won't be forgotten,
You can push my memory aside,
But I will never be far from your thoughts,
I will never let you go,
I will always be right here were you left me,
If you need me you can find me,
I will never let you go.
I hate that you're poison,
I love that you're my death,
I'm furious that you don't seem to care,
I'm pleased that you walk away,
I'm regretful that you cause me pain,
I'm happy that you make me feel,
I'm sorry that I can't get away from you,
But I'm grateful that you came into my life at all.
These tears on my cheeks are there for a reason,
The problem has got to be you,
They weren't there before you arrived,
They weren't there until you stole my heart,
They weren't there when you broke it,
They only came when I found it shattered on the floor.
Why don't you see me?
Why don't you notice me standing here?
Your eyes follow her,
Just as mine follow you,
It's a cycle,
A circle of loving eyes,
Staring ahead while oblivious to the pair staring from behind.
I'm hidden in the shadows,
Watching you from beneath my hair,
I look down as I hear you laugh,
I smile as I see your crooked grin,
I don't believe you notice,
I don't believe you've seen,
Maybe you have,
I don't know,
But for now,
I'm content to be here,
Hidden in the shadows,
Watching from beneath my hair.
Spoken words,
And broken hearts,
The world turns,
And reveals more hurts.
I have to run away,
This is not my place to stay,
You're with her now,
And not with me,
You're happy now,
I'll leave you be,
But if you ever need a friendly ear,
Someone to talk to who will truly hear,
Someone to comfort and reassure you,
I'll be around,
You'll know where to find me,
Just tap my shoulder,
Say my name,
I love you,
And that's why I have to run away.
I'm biting my tongue,
To keep from calling your name,
I wished on a star,
And then you came,
The time is here to let you go,
Though I know I'll miss you so,
Fly free little bird,
Get out of my cage,
Don't turn around,
And don' look back,
You're destined for better things than me,
I can't follow you or stay by your side,
So don't look back or turn around,
I think it will just be better if I run and hide,
Don't turn around and don't look back,
Fly free little bird,
Don't turn around and don't look back,
And I will keep from calling your name.
Farewell said the woman,
To the man she cared for most,
Farewell said the man,
To the woman who would soon be a ghost,
He didn't understand,
He didn't want to see,
That all he had to do to save her,
Was to tell her, "Stay with me."
But he didn't want to say the words,
He didn't feel ready,
And as the woman slipped into death,
She wondered why she had been given such a worthless life,
When she had really been the light for many.
(The title means that the man didn't quite understand that when they were saying good-bye, that it was to be forever.)
