(I was bored in a class a few years ago and absentmindedly wrote this down in my notes.)

You watched the tears slide down my face,

Your lips playing with a smile as my life was shattered,

What a joke.

You never really were there for me,

But I'll always be there for you,

I may be dead,

But I won't be forgotten,

If you need me you can find me,

I hate that you're poison,

I love that you're my death,

I'm furious that you don't seem to care,

I'm pleased that you walk away,

I'm regretful that you cause me pain,

I'm happy that you make me feel,

I'm sorry that I can't get away from you,

But I'm grateful that you came into my life at all.

These tears on my cheeks are there for a reason,

The problem has got to be you,

They weren't there before you arrived,

They only came when I found it shattered on the floor.

Farewell said the woman,

To the man she cared for most,

Farewell said the man,

To the woman who would soon be a ghost,

He didn't understand,

He didn't want to see,

That all he had to do to save her,

But he didn't want to say the words,

He didn't feel ready,

And as the woman slipped into death,

She wondered why she had been given such a worthless life,

When she had really been the light for many.



(The title means that the man didn't quite understand that when they were saying good-bye, that it was to be forever.)
