Sheer childishness

04:38 Aug 29 2006
Times Read: 624

Wow, the pettiness of some people.. I was at work today and was pulled aside by a coworker. This coworker asked me if I had a blog online somewhere.. confused, I said 'no'. She pressed, asking if I had anywhere online where I wrote about coworkers and such.. It clicked. I've got this journal here on vampire rave. I told her as much and asked why she was curious. Her response was that someone had told some of the staff that I was writing negative things and 'slagging' the staff I work with online somewhere.

Wow. Really. Let's review my journal shall we? There were several posts about one individual who I worked with for a time who is a racist. I specifically wrote about that. There was an entry regard the 'telephone game' and by no means 'slagged' anyone on my shift. It was meant to make a point and I'm guessing it didn't.

Now, seeing as there are, to my knowledge, only 2 people with whom I work with who are on vampire rave and who read my journal, it's pretty easy to narrow it down as to who said something.

I'm betting that this gets read fairly shortly after I type it, so I'm going on record right now and saying: I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH ANY OF THE PEOPLE THAT I WORK WITH ON THE AFTERNOON SHIFT IN THE BUILDING I WORK IN.

They're actually not a bad bunch of people; easy to work with, willing to help when you need it, good euchre players, a lot of them like to hit the bars (not neccessarily the ones I do, but hey, to each their own tastes)...

I go to work to do a job, not to deal with bullshit gossip being laid by slandering fools. If this persists, I will be forced to continue along the course of action I began a while ago and lodge a formal complaint. Now this is something I really don't want to do, but I will NOT be subjected to slander and rumor mongering at work. I like my job and dont' intend to leave this company anytime soon. If you dont' like me there, then leave, cause i'm not. You leave me alone and i'll leave you alone.

Okay, rant over. Moving on ( I hope)

countdown!!!

5 days... that's it now!! 5 days and I'm in my own place again! Everything's falling into place; phone transfer, cable and internet hook ups, gas, water and electricity hook ups.

I get the keys Thursday morning, move that afternoon and will spend that night and friday unpacking, painting and getting it ready. Looks like my roomie will be here some time after the long weekend, once everything has been settled on her end and she gets on the road.

Here we go!

And so it begins!!

Earlier this week I got confirmation that I've got a 3 bedroom townhouse here in London. It's in the northeast part of the city, close to work for both me and my soon-to-be-roomie, and far away from the college and university that we dont' have to worry about drunken students in the area!

I'm really looking forward to this! It feels 'right' moving into this place, with this roomate. Oh yeah, the roomie!! SAHAHRIA is moving from Seattle to here and is going to be said roomie!!! WOOHOO to us!! lol (no it's not a relationship thingy.. we're good friends) With everything that's gone on in my life in the past while, she's been one of a few breaths of fresh air to blow into my life, and I cannot wait to get the keys on August 31 and begin the next chapter of my life!

I apologize, I guess I've been lying to everyone....

04:45 Aug 10 2006
Times Read: 660

I decided to Google my name today, just to see what it said about me. Turns out I've been living a lie my entire life.

According to Google, I'm an artist in Melbourne, Australia...wait, I mean an architect in England...sorry, I mean a horror writer...oops, a mathematician at the University of Arizona.. a singing teacher...

And that's just the first 2 pages!!!!

My point here? Don't believe everything you read on the web. There are over 4 MILLION hits when you type in my name, and after scrolling through 10 pages of listings I have yet to find one that has anything to do with me.

I continued with this experiment and typed in the name of my father's old business, Watts Line Distributors ltd. Now my parent's owned and operated this janitorial company for 15 years or so and were quite successful at it. Yet, according to Google, with their 1 million plus hits, it never existed.. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....

It's sad when you get an email today from someone who challenges who you are and what you're about when all they have to go on are internet searches. It's not the be all and end all of the world people. Even the information you find online may not always be as accurate as you'd like.

Moral of all of this? Use your head people.. think before you speak (or type). If you found a website that said the elephant was only 6 inches tall and had a picture to prove it, would you believe it?

That's all. Rant over.

the 'telephone game'

19:32 Aug 06 2006
Times Read: 669

Remember the 'telephone game' that we all used to play in school when we were kids? You know, the one where someone whispers something to someone, they the next person, etc until the last person hears it and repeats what was said to them? What the last person hears and repeats is never quite what the first person says.

It's supposed to teach us a lesson on many different levels.

Funny how some people never get out of grade school or never learn the lesson of that game. Actually, it's a real pity, but then again, it's a lesson I learned a long time ago.

wow, the immaturity and sheer two-facedness of some people! I don't even know where to begin! I wonder if they know what they're doing or if they're that self-centered that they just can't see it?

Heat plus Crohn's = bad

15:45 Aug 02 2006
Times Read: 681

We've had record heat and humidity here the past few days.. and when I say record I'm talking about 50 degrees Celcius with the humidex! (that's over 120 Farenheit)

Thankfully there's air conditioning at home to keep things resonable, but at work, that's another story.

Monday I went through 5 Litres of water just trying to keep hydrated (which is something I HAVE to do to keep my Crohn's from acting up) and was still cramped and in pain at the end of my shift. Tuesday was worse weather-wise, and it really hit me. by 4pm I was cramped and in agony. At 6pm I decided that enough was enough and I had to go home. Never made it home. The cramping and pain got so bad that I went straight to the hospital.

Turns out that despite consuming massive ammounts of water, I was still dehydrated and my Crohn's was reacting to that. 3 hours later and 2 Iv bags, I'm feeling well enough to go home.

The doctor's suggestion? Don't go into work when it's this hot out. Great. so let's sit at home and NOT make any money.

My decision>? Well, I'm going to try to keep working and deal with it one day at a time. Maybe I'll be able to keep myself hydrated enough that this won't happen again, maybe I'll be able to get put somewhere at work where the heat and humidity won't get to me as bad (yeah, right.. the building is 70 years old.. it was 38 degrees INSIDE yesterday)...

Have I menitoned how much I hate having this disease? Not only do I have to be careful about what I eat, now I have to worry about the temperature.. I wonder sometimes if I shouldn't just get them to remove my guts completely.. mind you I REALLY don't want to shit into a bag for the rest of my life; doesn't really sit there on my 'high list of things to do'..

There HAS to be an answer somewhere... BLARG
