Well I confess that I have lost interest in writing this but given that I'd told so many people I would, I am sitting my butt down and getting to it.
What can I say about this weekend? As some of you know, I have a regular habit of traipsing off to the city for weekends frolicking in the dark. It's almost always a good time although there's almost always some random thing that happens to make it less than perfect.
Fortunately, the 'less than perfect' event didn't happen until literally the very end of the weekend by which time we (my darkling friend) had already had so much fun we were in no position to be greedy.
The festivities started off with a trip into town to poke around a few stores. He ended up getting a pair of pants he fell in love with. Oddly enough, while he was trying them on, he handed me his jacket. I just put it on rather than hold it and when he came out he said, "Holy shit - that was made for you!" I replied, checking myself out in the mirror, "Yeah it is kinda awesome." So he says, "It's yours." Sweetness!
The main event was the Aesthetic Perfection / Faderhead concert. Soooo much fun. Even the little after party was a blast as everyone who stuck around got to dance and party with the bands.
The one thing that was most surprising though were the number of homos running around. In fact, during the AP concert, there were two guys who were boyfriends right next to me. I wanted to ask "What the hell are you guys doing here?!" but just kept my mouth shut since, heh, I and my friend were there ourselves.
The next day, after a slow recovery from the night before, we hauled ourselves out to go to the Alexander McQueen exhibit. A-may-zing. My friend had just been indulging me by going with me but afterwards commented on what a great exhibit it was and how he finally understood and appreciated much better McQueen's work now. Any of you in the vicinity of NYC are strongly encouraged to see this show.
That night, we sauntered off to Defcon/The Pyramid. What. A. Bust. We chalked it up to the fact that the concert the night before probably more than topped up anyone wanting a bit of darkness. The cover was dirt cheap and the music was good. Just disappointing that the place was so dead. Can't have it all!
A few pics for those who likes such things:
