Carolyn and the Roses

I am writing this purely for enjoyment and would greatly appreciate it if people told me what they thought of it. However positive and negative comments will not make or break me, so feel free to speak your mind.

Once there was a girl, her name was Mandalyne she lived with her parents and had a huge rose bush outside of her window. Every morning she pick one of these roses and gave it to a different person one her way to school. She wasn't a very pretty girl 14 years old and hadn't quite grown into herself. She was tall and clumsy, and rather unpopular. Still, she was happy with herself, and every morning she gave someone a rose, and made them smile.

One chilly November morning, she saw Carolyn, 17 years old, beautiful, and by far the most popular girl in Pacific Rhodes High School and she decided to give Carolyn the rose that morning. Carolyn thanked her and as Mandalyne continued walking toward the school threw it away.

When she went home that afternoon she found a small bud of a growing plant outside of her front door. She thought nothing of it, just a weed in her parents garden, they would be back from vacation soon.

The next morning as Carolyn again left the house she found that the budding plant had grown. She also found a plant at the window in front of the living room. Still she thought nothing of it. She didn't give much thought to the little "weeds" until one day as she was leaving for class she saw a little black rose growing from it.

That weekend she had no plans so Carolyn stayed and home. When she woke up Monday morning she found she could not leave her bedroom because thorny rose bushes were everywhere, encircling her. She reached for her cell phone to call for help to escape her home, and realized she had left it in the kitchen the day before.

Mandalyne continued giving someone a rose every day, never realizing that those who embraced the gift were awarded luck and happiness throughout their long and healthy lives, and those who cast them away were doomed to short lives quick to end in tragedy.
