Masochistic by nature,
Though hidden from sight
Beauty blinded by wrongs,
That were never made right
On a stage so it seems,
To perform on cue
To fulfill all your fans,
Never pleasing to you
Pushed and prodded along,
Made to feel insecure
Never knowing you're rare,
Simple and pure
As you twist and you turn,
Just to blend in and fade
Continually yearning,
For a place in the shade
Unaware that your radiance,
The source of your light
Cannot be traded,
For the darkness of night
So you struggle to hide,
Never heeding your call
While convincing yourself,
You're unworthy of all
But it's not black and white,
So much gray mixed within
You see and you know,
But it never sinks in
You grow and you change,
Letting life take its course
As you try to adapt,
Filled with so much remorse
Laying burdens aside,
Finding joy in their place
Rediscovering yourself,
Finally resting your case
Embracing the brilliance,
Encompassing you
Acknowledging finally,
All you can do
I can see who you are,
Where you've been, what you've done
How you constantly,
Fight the temptation to run
To a place far away,
Free from judgement and pain
Where you finally feel,
Both accepted and sane
Where the mirror reflects,
Beauty inside and out
Absent of tension,
Worry and doubt
Allowed to shine brightly,
For the whole world to see
No distractions, no hatred
No more misery
You've got guts coming here,
And asserting your claims
That you know who I am,
And you're not playing games
To presume that I loved you,
Is your first mistake
To assume I was saddened,
When I watched your heart break
I was betrayed from the first,
But I never forgot
I just bided my time,
Til I had a clear shot.
Now the sadness and tears,
That appear on your face
Fill my heart with such joy,
I should feel some disgrace.
I'm not prone to anger,
But destructive at times
You have only begun,
To pay for your crimes.
So scream if you must,
Plead your case as you cry
You might as well say your peace,
And prepare for goodbye
And years from now,
In the dark, lonely night
When you try to forget me,
With all of your might
Rest assured you're replaced,
Inconsequential at best
May your heart ache forever,
And your soul find no rest
Let it never be said we have failed to try,
Afraid of the ground far below
Let us boldly, defiantly pursue what we seek,
As the passion continues to grow.
For the naysayer's only an example for those,
Whose mediocrity knows no bounds
Free of accomplishment, wrapped up in fear,
A stranger to congratulatory sounds.
Full of promise, potential and a passion so true,
To deny it would be our demise
As we search and we fight and we cling to our dreams,
Gaining strength with each one of our tries
Never knowing how long it will take to succeed,
Yet assured from within that we must
Resisting the doubts that lay claim to our souls,
'Til our body's returned to the dust
When, at last, we have reached that summit it seems,
Looking out at the world so clear
And assured by more than our hopes and our dreams,
That finally, we've nothing to fear
COMMENTS
These are all brilliantly written. Am a fan :)
Brilliant!
Thank you for the kind words. The credit, however must go to a friend. I might have written the words and made it rhyme lol, but they were definitely the inspiration :)
Alphabetically here I shall tell you a tale,
But it surely shall come with a price
Cataclysmic in nature, with a dash of redemption,
Devised to engage and entice
Every cell that once burned with a fire so true,
Fit to rule and to never recede
Given over for riches and words made of gold,
Having succumbed to the nature of greed.
In this tale was a man who had nothing to fear,
Just the right mix of talent and skills
Knowing just what to say in that moment of fate,
Lusting only for that which he wills
Monumentally hopeful success was in sight,
Never stopping to think of the cost
Overjoyed at the prospect of having it all,
Proof there is nothing that cannot be lost.
Questioning daily the choices he made,
Reprehensible some even say
Stuck in a cycle so filled with regret
Truly grateful for every day
Uselessly pondering what might have been,
Villifying himself for the crime
Wondering how he has managed to cope
Xanadu now lost in time
Your life is your own, so go forth not in fear,
Zestfully living and holding it dear.
COMMENTS
I haven't been myself my dear,
Perhaps you know this tale.
The illusions and the rhetoric,
Lie just beyond the veil.
To see is to know,
Which requires we act.
To pretend is to hide,
Though our pride is intact.
Bid adieu to the silence,
As it deafens and swells.
Suffocating all reason,
In this personal hell.
To embrace truthful deception,
Both cunning and wise.
Leaves a mystery capable,
Of delivering demise.
Yet I offer up honesty,
In a last ditch attempt.
To start something real,
That's devoid of contempt.
Though, it seems that these words,
Which are bold and sincere
Make it harder to reach you,
Is it doubt or just fear?
Can one catch another,
With truth as their net?
Or must the hunter stay hidden,
So a trap can be set?
Like the warrior who's laid,
Sword and shield on the ground
In an effort to prove,
There's no danger around.
No horse full of men,
Waiting outside your gate
No designs of a coup,
That would alter your fate
Just the premise that sometimes,
On a quite average day
You catch a glimpse of a person,
In just such a way
You see past all the bullshit,
For a second or two
And what you've glimpsed is enough,
To see how much they're like you
No risk, no reward,
Isn't that what they say?
Or you could just ignore it,
Cuz it's easier that way.
And just so this ends up,
making no sense at all
Kathy Bates say the Devil's,
In that there Foozball :)
