Something Different, Or More Of The Same?

Self preservation and self destruction look an awful lot alike if you have no idea where you are going or how to get there. And if logic is the enemy, then that should be a clue in itself. We all have choices to make and priorities to align, but if we're continuing to merely REACT in the presence of unwanted circumstances, then the control we imagine ourselves to have is an illusion. When faced with multiple options, there is always some catalyst that will inevitably sway us one way or the other and reveal which one is more desirable and better suited to lead us where we want to go. It takes courage to be honest and extend ourselves beyond what is merely comfortable and familiar. Many of us extend this advice to others so readily without considering whether or not we are applying the same principles in our own lives. Who are we today? where do we want to be later on in life? Can we get there if who we are and everything we know stays the same? If not, perhaps we should consider the possibility that we need to change for OURSELVES in order to expand our quality of life. We have no one to blame but ourselves for who we are, and the choices we make. Others may have influenced those choices and done things that made it easy to believe we are powerless to change, but it is we who have accepted that powerlessness and cowered in the face of adversity. Everything is subjective, but if we change our perceptions we can change the outcome of this existence and really live our lives in a way that demonstrates who we are as individuals. We can be ourselves and fully experience the wonder that is life. To perpetually embrace the fear and succumb to its charms is nothing more than an excuse to remain stagnant or justification for the regression that always accompanies the decisions we make when under its influence. Faith and life are wonderful accessories and accentuate our individuality. We should wear them more often.

That's my two cents, anyway.

...and that two cents are worth every penny. LOL

I always love reading what you write. For me, the best journals are the ones that make me think. This did so thanks.

Truth

I think it's open to interpretation, really. I interpret it one way. Others might, in fact, interpret it differently. In the end, it is both equally relevant and irrelevant, depending on where you stand.

Distinguishing fact from fiction takes time and a whole lot of experience on both sides of the fence.

I've got a few miles under my belt, and I'm nowhere near my destination. The scenery sure is lovely, though.
