Hygrometers, Dehumidifiers, & Broken Noses... Oh my!

I finally suffered through five days of no allergy or stomach medicine so that I could be fully tested for allergies prior to my second sinus surgery. My ENT doctor warned, "if you have allergies, we can operate all day, but you are never going to be 100%." To which I replied, "I have allergies, I just won't test positive; I never do." However, in order to placate him and to prove I was right, I made myself miserable for days so that I could have needles dragged across my skin and allergens intradermally injected under my skin. Sounds like fun, doesn't it? At least I was smart enough to take a good book, a nice latte from Dunkin Donuts, and an ice-cold bottle of Coke Zero.

Much to my surprise, I actually tested positive this time (not my first rodeo at the allergist). I am officially allergic to molds, specifically Stemphylium, Alternaria Alternata, Aspergillus Niger, Cladosporium Sphaerospermum, and Penicillium Notatum. This information is worth about $0 to me because the only recommended treatment is to buy a hygrometer to monitor my household humidity, to buy a dehumidifier if the household humidity is greater than 50% (helllllo, I live in Alabama), to buy a high-quality HEPA filter, and to continue to take the allergy medication that I have been taking for years. So off to Amazon I went even before leaving the parking lot of the allergist. One appointment, one hygrometer, and one dehumidifier later, I was down $700 ($450 for the allergy testing... thanks Bradley insurance) and still have no real answers. At least my ENT will be happy.

Next, I suppose I need to schedule this hideous surgery. I mean, when is a good time to voluntarily have your nose broken? As an aside, I wonder if while they are in there, they can remove the little bump I have on my nose from when I broke it by crashing into my best friend when we were running through sprinklers as kids. I may check into that. Not that it matters, because I think the bump is only noticeable to me.

Anyway, that was my Wednesday morning. Also, I woke up today thinking it was Friday. It is soooo NOT Friday. Oh well, March Madness (NCAA Basketball (men's and women's) for those who are like "WTF is she talking about?") starts today, so that is something to look forward to. Did you get your bracket in? There is still time and if you are interested in joining my bracket group, send me a message with your email and I will send you an invite. We just play for fun, no money.

Well, I've rambled on long enough. Time to go get some actual work done before work starts. LOL.

March Madness wootwoot! The Zags are huge on this side of the West!

I am exhausted reading about your ordeal with the allergies and its like no real answers. Kinda feels like a ripoff, I feel like demanding for a refund on your behalf! Lol! The surgery, I'm on the fence with that one because, is that going to help alleviate things, or lead you into yet, another set of issues with your now tested allergies? I am hoping for the positive and awesome results!

Work before work huh? Hehehe gotta love us insomiacs:)
