Every mirror covered, every window shade down, every reflective surface gone. Here I sit on the floor, rocking back and forth, back and forth. I cannot stand to look at her any longer, to look at myself any longer. Her cold blue eyes are dead, dead like the winter breeze. She brings nothing but cold and misery. I am her, and her is me. We are one for all time, as it is our destiny. We cannot be among the living, we cannot be among the dead. Her and I, me and her, we are stuck in limbo, stuck with our own brand of misery. This place is a creation all our own, a grave of sorts. This place is not a physical one, but a spiritual and psychological destination. This is where all the broken souls, all the broken minds reside. This is where they go when their minds wander, this is where we go when we sleep, this is where the broken souls and broken minds go when there is no way to carry on, as the toxicity has become too great. This place is what nightmares are made of.

This is where we attempt refuge, but only find mounds of regret and shame. We are reminded of all we have done wrong, and lastly all the wrong that has been done to us. The heart ache comes flooding in, flooding in so quickly that there is no chance of escape. Our will to fight is nearly gone, our struggle for air, for survival is short lived. The heart ache drowns its victims mercilessly, not caring your age or gender or race. Heart ache does not discriminate, it does not judge you by such superficial things. Heart ache consumes all, leaving behind an empty shell of what once was whole.
