It was a cold night, to cold to let anyone stay out in it. She came to the door with a message for us from the home land we once knew. It said only this

"He is dead, return"

As happy as we were he was gone we could not leave where we were.

"This is our home now" I said to the lady. My arm over my wife. "But you cannot be out in this, please come in and stay the night” she smiled never once lifting her head. I could not see her face, a cloak hid it well. The girls were short enough and they stared at her, at the face we adults could not see. She stopped only for a moment to stare at my girls. They commented at how pretty she was. She smiled only for a moment and proceeded to the fire. Dripping, she stood in front of it. A moment passed her not moving; one had thought it was because she enjoyed the warmth. With a quick flick of her neck the cloak fell from her head and floated down her body. She was a vision of pure beauty; she seemed to glow with the fire. Her hair was blonde and braded, it nearly touched the ground, and it glistened and was as soft as silk on the eyes. Only the strong of wills dare not touch it. Her skin was as white as the snow, smooth as ice and inviting to the lips. She turned to face us. Her face was as the children said, beautiful. Lips as red as a new rose, skin clear of any follies and scars. Her body was draped in a green dress, though out in the cold rain it seemed unharmed. Soft it formed her well showing everything about her that caught men’s eyes. Blue eyes taunted the soul, but that’s where they stop, something about them made fear rise in a man. Though draped in beauty everywhere, her eyes made her as ugly as evil itself. I held my wife as she spoke.

Forever I will regret what I have done, forever is all I have now. I am Justice Lansdowne; my family migrated from Norway to England. We were sought after by a man destined to take all we had. He collected taxes and was an evil man, though 50 years in age long past what was expected for death, he was cunning and sometimes gentle. Perversion was his constant companion, having his way with what he wanted. And no one would stop him, he was powerful. He set his eyes on my darling wife, one night was all he wanted, but I refused. Mad he sent men my way, people I had grown up with corrupted by money. They held me and waited for his arrival. He came and wasted no time with my wife, knowing I was in the room, he did not care. My old friends had enough compassion for me to not beat me, and they hated what he had done, but gold changed their state of mind quickly. I held my broken wife as she cried and that evening those same men that held me down helped us escape to where we live now. The action that man had with my wife gave us a child, whom I love as if she were my own; our second came later, this one from my seed. For many years we lived without ever knowing what was back home, nor did we care. Our own land where no one can find us, a garden and 2 lovely girl made me and my wife happy. But then she arrived.
