Yesterday, August 29th, mariked the one year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina hitting the Gulf Coast region. I was not in the area and did not know anyone who personally suffered in the storm. I was born in New Orelans and graduated high school in Louisville, MS. Louisville is in northeast Misssissippi. That town did not get hit. I have spent time in towns like Pass Christian in Mississippi that did get hit.



I am still angry at the people who made the comment why did the people in New Orelans stay? If you do not have a car and are poor, how do they suppose you get out? I do not think they thought about that. Those who could leave and wanted to did. Some people need to think before they open their mouth. I am still angry that the federal government was so slow to respond. Some have blamed everyone from the local government in New Orelans to the federal government. I got angry when the federal officals blamed the fact that the levee system was flawed in the first place. That does not absolve them of the responsibility of helping the city or for not doing more. Since the federal government did not help and the state and local officals were at a loss, I am sure everyday ordinary people went out of their way to help the victims of the hurricane.



In Waveland, MS, dead bodies laid in the street for days. The town of Waveland is still not back together. When I see the footage on the news of this town, I want to cry., The abdanoned houses and the people who may never be able to rebuild those houses make me thakful that I still have my small apartment and the personal belongings that I own.



Sometimes, we complain about minor things going wrong in our life. What is harder? Having a friend show up ten minutes late for a dinner date or spending weeks even months not knowing where your children are. Many parents did not know where their young ones were after the storm. As as mother, this would have killed me. My son is my everything. If I did not know where he was, I would not know how to function. I hope everyone reading this thinks for a minute about the people who lost everything in the storm. Some lost their lives. I am sure it will make that fifteen minutes on hold with the light company or that telemarketer calling for the tenth time seem like Heaven in comparsion.

I am listening to a replay of Glenn Beck on headline prime. Apparently, a study from a group at Princeton has proven that taller people are more intelligent. What does that say about short people? I am 5'5 and a half. Does that mean I am smarter than someone who is 4'11, but dumb compared to someone who is 5'9? I do not think so.



So, this John Mark Karr fellow did not kill JonBenet Ramsey. The DNA did not match. This is one sick dude. He confessed to a crime he did not commit, got the media and law enforcement in a flurry, and cost taxpayers money transporting him from Thailand to Colorado. I hope he can be charged with making a false statement and perhaps obstruction of justice. He is being transferred to California to face charges there. I am sure this nutcase is a pedophile and is a problem waiting to happen. He worked as a schoolteacher. I am wondering how he ever got a job near children. It is obvious by looking at him that he is weird. I am sure the interview process should have made someone see he is a pervert. My roommate Lori never believed he was guilty of killing JonBenet. I was hoping they got the right guy. If the person who killed JonBenet is still alive, other children are in danger. The only good thing about this guy making a false confession is he is now off the streets. I am sure sooner or later, he would have graduated up to living out his murder of a young girl fantasties. At least, the children are safe from one predator.



I watched some of the Emmys last night. I was amazed at Dick Clark. He has made one hell of a recovery after the stroke. It was hard to see him less than what he once was. I am just glad he got honored for his work in television , before he died. Sometimes they wait too long to honor someone for their contributions in the entertainment industry.

I went to the forum and noticed a thread that was closed down by Stabb666. I do not blame Stabb for getting rid of that particular thread. That guy is a moron or just bold. Perhaps, both. Stabb quoted from his journal , so naturally I went to read the part that was too X rated for minors. I must say that this guy is sick and I hope noone sends him pictures of any kind.

It should go without saying that this is the Internet and while I feel measures are taken to keep the Rave as safe as possible, it is never a good idea to send pictures of yourself to anyone who is going to make X rated photos out of them. I would love to say this guy is just pulling everyone's leg, but I think he is serious. I hope none of the minors on here pay him any attention.

As the fifth anniversary of Sept 11, 2001, approaches, it thought it fitting to write an entry honoring some true American heroes. The world changed after 9-11 and I am sure most people's definition of the world hero changed as well. The passengers of United Flight 93 and the crew that was still alive at the point that attempted to get control of the plane are heroes that should never be forgotten.



Everyone has heard of Todd Beamer. He was on the phone with a GTE operator by the name of Lisa Jefferson. Ms. Jefferson went to work that day having no idea that she would be comforting a man who knew the actions he was getting ready to take would lead to his death. She recited the Lord's Prayer with him and stayed on the line as the terrorists crashed the plane into a field, as the rest of the people on the plane attempted to enter the cockpit. Ms. Jefferson had to be made to release the call after the plane crashed. Todd Beamer instructed her to call his wife, LIsa. He had tried but could not get through.



One passenger, Tom Burnett got his wife on the phone. He left behind three daughters. His wife tried to call the authoritites and at first was left on hold. The FBI agent who finally answered was not listening to what she said. He thought she meant he was on the plane that crashed into the World Trade Center.



One passenger on the plane was running late for the flight. His first name was Mark. He was openly gay and was one of the men to rush into the cockpit in an attempt to keep the terrorists from crashing into a building. This was an unselfish act. They knew they might not make it home. Mark called his mother and was disconnected talking to her. His father instructed the mother to keep calling. He wanted his son to know that this was an suicide mission and that they needed to get control of the plane.



A woman on the plane Lauren Grandcolas was expecting a baby. She attempted to call her loved one Jack. She got the answering machine. She told him how much she loved him and to tell her family she loved them.



A girl on the plane, Elizabeth, was on the phone with her step-mother right before the plane went down. She told her mother that she would not make it out alive.



These are just a few of the people on the plane that day. They risked their lives to keep others from sharing their fate. The terrorist piloting the plane tried to tell them that they were heading back to the airport in New Jersey. Luckily, they were able to call loved ones and find out what had happened to the other three planes hijacked that day. Many more people would have died if they had been unable to communicate with people outside the plane. I wish they would have gotten control of the plane and did not die. The terrorist piloting the plane made the decision to kill everyone with him, instead of face justice for his crimes. He wanted to die. I am sure the passengers and crew wanted to live.

There is a woman who with backing of her therapist believes she is the reincarnation of Marilyn Monroe.

This same therapist believes George Bush was Andrew Jackson. He thinks Gen. Tommy Franks was George Washington. He also stated that Halle Berry was Dorthy Danridge, the actress. Ok, so everyone had to be somebody famous? I have serious doubts about these claims. You can read the story on cnn.com.



Mikhail is one excellent cook. His fried chicken is enough to make anyone fall in love with him. Sorry, folks he is taken. He is like a brother to me.



Apparently, the port of Los Angeles is at risk for terrorism. This is becoming more and more dangerous as we go along. Or are some people becoming paranoid? If we worry too much about terrorist attacks, then the terrorists have already won. .



You have a high-risk pregnancy if you had a previous C-section. Chances are you will have another one if you ever have another child.



Saw a friend's new baby. He is beautiful.



I think Orlando Bloom is too beautiful for words. He is one talented actor. May he win an Oscar someday and marry someone who truly loves him.
