Last night was my first night back to work on my regular shift. I did not make it out of the front break room and to the lines without being severly annoyed. We have this girl who comes in and sits at the table with Connie and me. Connie and I are both attempting to read and relax before a twelve hour shift. The next thing I know I am getting a commentary on how much she hates her mother for not giving her money for her car payment. I have never heard anyone talk that badly about their mother. I was stunned. I ended up walking outside and counting to ten. I was about to get in trouble before the shift started. I told Connie I hope I do not get on a line with her. Then, Connie ended up working with her. I know Connie felt like I jinxed her. Connie ended up hearing the story about her mother practically all night. I really empathized with Connie and everyone on her line.
I had written that the girl messing with the married man got fired for giving him fellatio in the parking lot. That is not exactly what happened. She or someone she asked to called his wife and told her that her husband was messing with a girl with her name. I quess she believed the man was about to leave his wife. When that did not happen , she thought she could make it happen. Well, it backfired. She ended up unable to work with the man and he stayed with his wife. She quit because she could not handle her emotions at work.
Another married guy is going to lunch with a co-worker that is female. It could be innocent for all I know. We are not allowed to smoke on the property. Most smokers leave at lunch to light up. The guy is a smoker. I hope it is all innocent. We do not need another married guy messing up his marriage. We shall see.
There is a new show starting on comedy central on June 13th. I recommend this show to anyone who is not the biggest George Bush fan. It is called Lil Bush. You can watch two previews of it at Comedy Central motherlode. I almost fall out of my chair, I laughed so hard.
Last night was my first night back at work since my three month lay off period. Things are still the same in some areas and things have changed. I oould not get in the building, because I did not have fingerprint access yet. Before if you had your temp badge on, the security would let you in. Apparently that is not the case anymore. If you did not have your fingerprint in the systen and have a badge, the security guard on duty would add you to the system. Someone who was unauthorized got the security guard on duty to put them in the system. Since then , Gloria the temp agency representative either has to physically take you to the security guard and tell them to put you in the system or send paperwork to the security department to get you in. When the temp lead finally got there, I was allowed in because I was on the list to work.
We still have lazy people at the job. Most of the time they are young guys. I am so glad I am not in my teens or twenties. Some of the young men I am seeing do not want to work. I am sure there are young men out there that will work their butts off. Not too many of them seem to work at Allergan.
I am worried about the girl next door. I am seeing signs that she is in an abusive marriage. Today I was trying to sleep. I work from seven-thirty at night to seven-thirty in the morning. I have to sleep days or I do not get any rest. Around two this afternoon I got roused from my sleep by this big verbal fight outside. The girl next door is practically in tears. She is not someone I am close too and I doubt we will ever be close friends, but I am afraid she is going to get hurt. Next time I may call 911, if I find out or think he is hitting her. There is no excuse for a man to get physically violent with a woman unless he is trying to protect himself or another person.
I watched American Idol last night. Jordin won which was not a big suprise. It was obvious she had the best vocal peformance the night before. Blake was still my favorite. He is one hell of a peformaner and beat Jordin in the peformance department. They reminded me of two members of the Rat Pack that were friends. Frank Sinatra had the voice. Sammy Davis Jr like Blake could carry a tune, but he was more of an entertainer. Sammy did not have the voice Frank had.
I have a huge crush on Ryan Seacrest. Of course, everyone I know automatically assumes he is gay. I seem to fall for gay men a lot. It does not matter to me one way or another. IT is not like I will ever meet the guy. I did get jealous when this one reject from the auditions won an award for most original peformance. She got to kiss Ryan. Damn, I cannot sing. Maybe I should have tried out and done something really crazy. That could have been me on the stage giving Ryan a smooch.
I start my temp job again tomorrow night. I had to go do paperwork and my drug test today. I took a computer test about the job which was an easy one hundred, since I worked there before.
This afternoon I spent a few hours helping my friend, Loretta pack things for her move. She will still be living in the same town. She is just moving into a dorm on the college campus where she is taking culinary art classes. Loretta loves to put things off until the last minute. She has to be completely moved by June 1st. She knows she is busy with work and school. I really wish she would have got started sooner. I am going to finish helping her pack up on Monday. Then on Tuesday, we will start hauling stuff two different places. The bulk of her stuff with be in a storage shed at her mother's house. The rest is going with her to the dorm.
I was half-way listening to a replay of the Glenn Beck show when a segment came on that caught my attention. There is a man who is claiming to be the reincarnation of Jesus Christ. The following article is one I found online about this man and his followers.
ORLANDO, Fla. -- A controversial religious figure who claims he is Jesus Christ incarnate with a following of millions with "666" tattoos on their bodies, filled an amphitheater in Orlando this weekend, and promised joy, peace and prosperity.
Orlando police officers stood guard around the Lake Eola amphitheater as Dr. Jose Luis De Jesus Miranda, 61, arrived in the city Saturday.
Miranda, who has been banned from three countries, told Local 6 News cameras and a cheering crowd that he was Jesus Christ reincarnated.
His followers believe that Miranda's life and his teachings replace those of Jesus of Nazareth, Local 6's Jamie Guirola said.
"They believe that Jesus is going to come from the sky," Juan Sanchez said. "But, that is not the way he is going to come."
"He is here?" Guirola said.
"He is here." Sanchez said.
Miranda said millions of people worldwide have tattooed their bodies with "666" in recognition that the second-coming of Christ has taken place, according to the report.
"I have it proudly on my hand," a believer told Local 6's Jamie Guirola. "It is easier when they shake my hand. It is easier for them to ask. I am very proud to show it is a sign of love."
A group of Christians protested the event, calling the following a cult. Police also removed two people from the amphitheater.
"We are just questioning their faith and their '666' tattoos," a protestor told Local 6. "We just want to learn more so we can relate more between being a Christian and believing in this and who the true Jesus is."
Miranda said he is known as God in at least 30 countries.
Local 6 reported that he was born in Puerto Rico and admits to being a recovering heroin addict. He also spent times in prison on drug and petty theft charges.
Miranda is the founder of the Miami-based Growing in Grace Ministry.
Ok, I doubt if this guy was Jesus in a previous life. I do not discount reincarnation, but I think this guy is running a scam and getting money from people who want to believe that Jesus is back.
I have stated in this journal before that everyone has the right to believe what they want and yes the followers of this man claiming to be Jesus have every right to believe him. I just think he is using the fact that these people believe him to get money.
Here are a few things I found on the web that this man believes:
* He believes he is Christ Himself; the last manifestation of God on earth.
* He claims that Romans 16:25 confirms that he is God.
* He believes, not only that he doesn’t sin, but that sin no longer exists.
* He claims that every religion: Catholics, Protestants, Jews, etc. all have the wrong religion (and he apparently has the right one).
* Only his followers are the “true race.”
* He believes he has come to establish the “Government of God” on earth.
* Oh wait, he also claims that the devil doesn’t exist; he is only a fabrication of other religions.
The part about only his followers being the true race sounds similar to what other groups believe that are consider racist.
I find this man to be very dangerous. I cannot believe people are following him. I do not believe that the real Jesus would teach anyone that to be a member of the "true race" you would have to follow him.
Below is an article I read on CNN. There are soliders still missing from the ambush described in the article. The ones that are missing are feared dead. The Islamic State of Iraq has claimed they abducted them and killed them.
I wonder if Bush even cares about the families that are going to be burying their loved ones. He keeps vetoing any attempt by Congress to have a timetable from withdrawal. Iraq is in the midst of a civil war. The insurgents have seemed to have taken over and the Iraqi government does not seem willing to step up to the plate and do anything to create any type of stability in the country. Our troops need to come home.
I think Bush is just trying to prevent the Democratic Congress from doing anything the American people were promised when we voted for them. I am sure he and his Republican cronies think that will translate into votes for their party in 2008. Plus, I think Bush is unable to see he was wrong about going into Iraq or made a mistake. Maybe he knows and is unwilling to admit he made a mistake. I would have more respect for the man if he would admit he was wrong and made a mistake. Bobby Kennedy supported the Vietnam War at first. He was one of those Cold War warriors that wanted to fight Communism wherever it raised its head. He staunchly believed in the domino theory that stated if one country went Communist then every other country in the area was going to share the same fate. When Kennedy realized just how bad Vietnam was going, he realized he was wrong to support any kind of military action in Vietnam. There are those in Congress in both the Republican and Democrat parties that have come to the same conclusion about Iraq. Bush and his administration seem to be the only ones holding out that our action in Iraq was correct.
NEAR YUSUFIYA, Iraq (CNN) -- One of three U.S. soldiers missing after a deadly Iraqi ambush had been chided by his comrades for being "the new guy," and another taught himself Arabic while in Iraq, their platoon leader recalled Friday.
The trio is the focus of an intense, day-and-night search by U.S. and Iraqi forces in the aftermath of a bloody ambush south of Baghdad that took the lives of four other U.S. troops and an Iraqi soldier Saturday.
The voice of 1st Lt. Morgan Spring-Glace fills with anger and pain as he remembers his four slain soldiers, including one who had just received a new baseball cap from his wife.
"Don't be sorry for the soldiers. They fought with honor and they died with honor. We will find the lost soldiers, and anyone who was involved will pay," the 25-year-old platoon leader says.
The platoon was shattered by what happened. In the shade of the front entrance at Patrol Base Inchon, a two-story home nestled in the fields and farmlands along the Euphrates River, Spring-Glace offers details of the morning when every soldier's worst nightmare became a reality, just about half a mile from the base. (Watch soldiers describe the shock of Saturday's ambush Video)
"The thing that concerns the soldiers most is that this will be perceived as enemy tactical superiority. It's not," he says.
Spring-Glace and his response unit were among the first to arrive at the attack site, navigating past a roadside bomb along the way. He says he was sure he would find Sgt. 1st Class James D. Connell Jr., 40, pulling security duty when he arrived.
Connell of Lake City, Tennessee, was among those killed. "Connell was a father of four. His eldest daughter is named Courtney," Spring-Glace says.
Spring-Glace says he thought there would be eight bodies at the scene -- his seven soldiers and the translator. "No one thought there would be an abduction."
Remembering the rest of his men brings both a smile and sorrow for the young platoon leader.
"They were all a bunch of silly guys," Spring-Glace says. "They had a sense of humor that bound them together."
• Pfc. Christopher Murphy was a 21-year-old assistant gunner from Gladys, Virginia. "Like his squad leader said, he died the death of an Irishman. The enemy could not physically restrain him, even though he had shrapnel wounds all over his body. He wrestled them, so they shot him," Spring-Glace says.
Murphy's body was found a short distance from the attack. "He was a 'Star Wars' enthusiast. He wore glasses. His glasses were broken, always broken. And when he got angry, his voice would get high-pitched."
• Daniel Courneya, 19, was promoted posthumously to a specialist, from a private first class. He was nicknamed "Cornball."
"He had just married his wife, Jennifer, less than a year ago. She had just sent him a baseball cap," Spring-Glace says.
Sgt. Anthony Schober of Reno, Nevada, was a 23-year-old squad leader. His was the last body to be identified. "He was a goofy guy, skinny, with the metabolism of a god," he says, with a sad smile. "When he got back, he was going to a permanent station in Italy."
Thousands of soldiers remain on around-the-clock patrol, searching and hoping for any signs of the three still missing. Those three are Pvt. Byron W. Fouty, 19, of Waterford, Michigan; Spc. Alex R. Jimenez, 25, of Lawrence, Massachusetts; and Pfc. Joseph J. Anzack Jr., 20, of Torrance, California. (Read about the dangers of the search)
Spring-Glace describes Fouty as a rifleman who is a "bright kid" and who was "given a lot of grief because he was the new guy." Jimenez is a gunner who is "married, but with no children. He had an invaluable sense of humor, taught himself conversational Arabic."
Anzack is also a gunner. Spring-Glace recalls that one time local media erroneously reported Anzack was dead. The platoon leader, like all involved in the search, are clinging to hope that Anzack and his two other colleagues remain alive today.
They are navigating through miles of farmland, searching farmhouses and combing through thick brush for their comrades -- constantly aware that one wrong step could lead to an explosion of a hidden bomb or that insurgents could ambush them again.
Pfc. Samuel Rhodes says he will remember the fun times -- the way the platoon always found a way to joke and keep strong, even under the worst of circumstances
"I want people to know that they are good men. They believed in what they were doing and they fought for what they believed in, and it wasn't stupid what they did," Rhodes says, trying to control his pain.
"It's twice as hard every day. We depend a lot on each other right now. Our heart was broke, but it's our will and our strength that keeps us going for our guys."
I have to respect those who are in the military and fight for what they believe in. Those in Washington who could bring them home when the stituation has gotten out of hand do not have my respect. I will always support our troops no matter what I think about the war or how I feel about the president. I was in the military . I understand they are just doing their job and following orders.
The Rev. Jerry Falwell died today. I cannot honestly say I agreed with him on any issue. I always wondered why there was not a bigger outcry about his participation in politics. This country was founded on the principle of separation of church and state. His group made sure their voices were heard in the political realm. I am wondering if a Catholic group had been that vocal what the response would have been. When John F. Kennedy ran for president, many Protestants put out propaganda that stated if he won the Pope would be influencing the president. They were afraid the Vatican was trying to take over the country. Kennedy had to answer religious questions from many Protestant groups. Our Constitution states he should not have had to. (By the way, I was raised Baptist and am now a non-practicing Methodist. I have no ill will towards
any religious group. I believe in the freedom of religion. If someone wants to believe a lightbulb is God, far be it from me to stop them. ) Our current President has made a big deal out of being a Christian. He is Methodist from what my roommate told me. He has never had to answer questions about the separation of church and state. Wonder what would happen if a Muslim ran for President? I am sure they would have to state over and over again their belief in the separation of church and state.
President Bush has named his pick for War Czar. Can you say the word scapegoat? Why does the commander-in-chief need a War Czar? Lincoln did not have one. As I can recall , neither did FDR or Johnson during Vietnam. The Bush administration is saying they need someone to cut through all the red tape. From my understanding after reading Bob Woodward's State of Denial, the Bush administration is the one who created all the red tape. I wish Bush's appointee would turn down the job. He is going to be taking the blame for everything that goes wrong with Iraq from here on out.
I watched American Idol tonight. I was impressed with Blake Lewis' take on the Maroon 5 song , "This Love". Of course, I voted for Blake. That Melinda is probably the best singer though. If it comes down to her or Jordin, I will have to vote for Melinda. She tore up the Ike and Tina Turner song, " Nutbush City Limits". She also did one hell of a job on the Whitney Houston song. I do not know about these days, but Whitney did have one of the best female voices out there. Jordin did not do horribly, but I did not like her version of Donna Summer's " She Works Hard For The Money".
I go back to my temp job on May 25th and I am more than ready. I am not one who can just sit at home. I do better when I am working. I feel more useful.
I just had a lengthy phone conversation with a friend of mine who does not feel she is intelligent . She is more naive than stupid anyday. What I love about her is she is always willing to learn. She knows she does not know everything and is always trying to gain more knowledge about things.
I told her tonight that there are those who assume they are smarter than everyone else. I am sure they feel like they know it all and do not need to learn anything else. They are the sadly mistaken. I told my friend that if she continues learning she will catch up to the ones that are smarter in her eyes and one day pass them. They will stay at their current level of knowledge , because they will think they do not need to improve. In the long run, that makes my friend smarter than them right now and in the future.
Well, the votes came in and my favortie contestant, Phil Stacy, went home. I was pretty sure he would. Now, I will just wait for his first album to come out and go buy it.
Chris Richardson also went home. I cannot lie and say I am one of his biggest fans, but I did think he sang damn well on the Jon Bon Jovi song, Wanted Dead or Alive. Maybe I woudl like him better if his style was not a carbon copy of Justin Timberlake. I am a big fan of Justin's these days.
Now I am voting for Blake. I do not know if he will make it to the top three or not. IT will depend on how well Lakeisha and Jordan do next week. I am sure Melinda is a shoo-in for the finals.
I have been on the Rave now for almost a year. (May 22nd marks the one year mark for me.) While I have seen some profiles that are creative and original, I have seen many that are just carbon copies of each other. It seems many on the rave are too busy trying to prove they fit in here because they are ultra gothic, that they seem to forget that originality is respected by most people.
I am tired of all the damn quizzes on your profiles people. That does not tell me anything about you. All is says is you got that result (that many others have and will get) by answering a set of questions a certain way. I am sick of seeing the same thing over and over about what real goths do and don't do. It was cute the first five or ten times I saw it. Now, I simply scroll right pass it.
I in no way have the best profile on the rave. I do not put a lot of personal information about myself on my profile. Anyone reading my journal will get a better idea of who I am. In fact, if the user is keeping a good journal you will always get a better feel of that person by reading their own words. I do put some things on my profile that give you a hint to who I am. I surely do not tell people to ask me later.
