I just read on CNN that British Prime Minister Tony Blair will be setting a timetable soon for his stepping down as England's prime minister. I knew that his political party was losing popularity with the British public and were wanting him to hand over the reins of power to his heir apparent, Gordon Brown. Tony Blair has been in office for ten years and for most of that time he seemed like a decent leader to me. Many believe his closeness with George Bush and his support of the war in Iraq has cost him support at home. The British and the Australians were the first to support us when we went to Iraq. I hope the Australian leaders have not paid a political price for helping the United States of America. I wonder if George W appreciates how Blair has taken hits politically for supporting his American cousins. I doubt it.
The front page of the Waco paper today was yellow journalism at its best. I was appalled. There was a picture of Steve Irwin and the headline was Would You Like To See This Man Die? I was like what the hell? I did not buy a tabloid or so I thought. I have come to expect more from the Waco paper. I understand that Irwin's final moments were caught on tape. There should be no question in anyone's mind that this tape should be destroyed. I do not care to see a person die. This was more than the Croc hunter. Irwin was somebody's father, somebody's husband, somebody's son, somebody's friend, etc. Only the truly demented would want to see the tape. The authorities now have the tape for an inquest. I hope it is destroyed as soon as they are done. I think the Waco paper and its editor exercised bad taste for making that the headline for Wednesday.
Today I slept late. Thought I might go to work, but got a call saying that the lines were still down from Friday night. Only three lines at the factory were running Friday night, according to Josh who imed me on Yahoo messenger. Josh is a co-worker of mine who is like a little brother to me. He is 19 and I am really proud of him. He works full time and goes to school full time. Josh is a future auto mechanic and I hope he realizes his dream of owning his own shop. His son Aidan is a doll. A blonde haired version of Josh. Josh originally had blonde hair but dyes it dark. I think he looks great with dark hair and never lets it go back to the original color.
A lot of people I know are having money problems. This is horrible. It is bad when you hear about someone not having food or a way to get any. It breaks my heart. Noone should go hungry. I am tired of hearing about friends of mine being evicted or having to move, because they do not have enough funds to pay rent. Or in one case, they had to decide between paying bills and the rent. They live in Texas. You will burn up in the summertime without air of some kind. The electricity bill in Waco is high. The newspaper said that the cost of living in Waco would be fair, if it was not for the high price of electricity.
