Nthaniel's Sister

17:44 Sep 30 2007
Times Read: 643

My friend Nthaniel ( who has an account on VR) has an older sister that in some aspects is an amazing woman. Her husband of the last ten years has been abusive ( He once decided to hit her when she was pregnant with their daughter. ) , cheated on her, and has refused to help with the common bills. He told her many months ago that the bills were her problem. He has lied about how much money he makes and has expected her to make the payments on the tires he is renting for his car. He likes his car to be a show car.

Recently, she put her foot down and decided not to pay one of his bills. The next thing she knows she finds a charge on her account for a divorce. Her husband went behind her back to get a divorce and then had the gall to use her money to pay for it. He is still not finished paying for the divorce. I am sure he is expecting her to pay the rest of it.

This man is stupid. He has a wife who works her butt off to make sure they are provided for, she takes damn good care of her children and has stayed with his sorry ass, when many women would have left a long time ago. She is not fighting the divorce. This man is not going to be able to get custody of the two children. Since he has not supported his children during the marriage, there is no way a judge is going to give him the kids. Oh, but he will be supporting them now. He is getting ready to have to pay child support.

I hope he realizes too late for him to get his wife back that not only was he wrong in how he treated her during the marriage, but that he was a fool to want to leave in the first place. I think my friend's sister will be better off. I see her finding a man that will love and appreciate her in the future.

From Reading Images' Journal

23:02 Sep 26 2007
Times Read: 648

After reading Images' journal , I realized there was a forum thread about something that is not in my opinion someone's right to do. Call me narrow-minded. I do not care. The dead are dead and cannot feel what you do to them. I do not care about the history of the practice, nor do I care about the idea of someone raping a dead person. Yes, I agree with images on this. Her sister died a horrible death and to add insult to injury so to speak, someone thought it was a good idea to rape her after she died. That was wrong. If your loved one died, I think it would upset you if someone raped them. I would come unglued.

And you think you have it rough?

21:35 Sep 25 2007
Times Read: 654

I was looking for something to watch on You Tube. I came across a video called emergency in Darfur. I am sure some people would say I do not care what happens in the Sudan. I have enough problems of my own. If it was you who could not leave a camp at the age of nine to find firewood without a truck of unidentified men shooting at you, you would want someone , somewhere to care.

And you think you have it rough? Try being eight years old and having to spend your days raising your younger siblings. Mother is trying to work. Father was killed. The reason these people are being killed is land and water. Oh and someone wanted to protest the government and their treatment of the citizens of the Darfur section of the Sudan. Father did not have a weapon and was not attempting to harm anyone. He died trying to protect his family.

According to the video, many of the aide workers are from the Sudan. They may need Western help , but they are attempting to do something themselves. They are not expecting the West to do everything for them.

So, if you think your life is so bad, watch the video. You may find yourself happy that you or your children are not Sudanese.

Watching CNN

22:38 Sep 24 2007
Times Read: 658

Every once in awhile I get the chance to watch the Stituation Room on CNN. I just got through listening to the remarks of Donald Trump about our current administration and their lack of true negotiators dealing with our foreign policy. Perhaps, Mr Trump is on to something. In his line of work, you have to be able to negotiate a deal. If not, well you are out of work very quickly.

He seems to be able to separate political party when it comes to picking someone who can deal successfully with foreign leaders. He seems intelligent enough to listen to. Of course, he is not running for office and does not have to cater to special interest groups or voters who will get angry the minute someone says something that does not tow the line.

Maybe if Rosie O Donnell who has been a great entertainer would have expressed herself with as much intelligence , she would have won the war of worlds she was having with Donald Trump. Donald may be cruel in some of the things he said about Rosie, but at least he can speak about politics without getting all hyped up and causing people to wonder where his head is.

The District Attorney For Jena , La

21:08 Sep 22 2007
Times Read: 665

This guy told a group of students at Jena High School that his pen could wipe away their future so to speak. Now, I do not care what group of children he was referring to. He seems gung ho about making sure some teenagers do not have a future. I would have been offended and if he had said that to my son, I would have prayed long and hard that the good voters of his parish voted him out of office. This man needs early retirement.

One of The Jena 6 is still in Jail

21:05 Sep 22 2007
Times Read: 666

I said I would write more on the Jena 6, so here it goes. I am horrified that a young man had his conviction overturned and is still sitting behind bars. Mychal Bell is still in jail. The district attorney is threatening to appeal his conviction. I am sure he feels he has a mandate to ensure this young boy does not hurt another white youth no matter that the white youth made remarks in a racially charged area at a time that most people with common sense would have chosen not to exercise their freedom of speech. The district attorney stated he could not find a law to prosecute the young white students that put a noose in a tree. Ok, then why did the cops arrest two people that had a noose hanging for a pickup truck during the rally to support the Jena 6? If they had not violated someone's civil rights, why stop them in the first place? Perhaps, the guys in the pickup truck were not arrested. I could remember what I read incorrectly ( I have read quite a bit about this case. ), but why even stop them if they were not violating the law? I think the district attorney is full of crap. He is wanting to see Mr Bell off the streets. He should admit that he thinks he is dangerous to society and be done with it.

Now, this brings me to Jesse Jackson. Earlier in the week, he made the comment that presidental candidate and senator from Illinois, Barak Obama sounded white when he addressed the Jena 6 stituation. Since when sounding intelligent was only a thing so called white people did? I am sure Jackson is jealous that Barak Obama will stand a better chance of occupying the White House than he ever did. I do not like Jesse Jackson when he behaves like this. The Rev Al Sharpton sounded smarter than him this week. Maybe Jesse should be quiet and let Al do all the talking.

While Jesse poked fun at Obama, MR Bell stayed in jail. His mother fled the courtroom in tears. Maybe Jesse is ADHD and can only pay attention to one thing at a time. I am sure MR Bell does not care at this moment how white Barak Obama or anyone else sounds at the moment.

Things Seen In the New York Times

05:10 Sep 16 2007
Times Read: 676

Illegal immigration has been one hot button issue for quite some time. Lou Dobbs on CNN has voiced his opinion. Other pundits have weighed in on how they feel about the issue. Everyone from the wisest to the village idiot has had their say. What more can be said about illegal immigration? I would like to put a human face to it. I want everyone to know that these are human beings that are risking their lives to leave the only home they have ever known. You do not do this if you are living in the lap of luxury. You do not take the risk of crossing the border with a human smuggler if your life is peaches and cream.

This July while I sat in my air conditoned home or workplace, a mother of four left Mexico to come to the United States. Her dream was to buy a house for her children. Her dream died right along with her in the Arizona desert. She was 29 years old. Her name was Felicitas Martinez Baradas. She did not cross the border legally. Her 17 year old cousin watched her die. He is back in Mexico. One would think that would prevent him from ever trying to sneak into the United States. That is not the case. What would make him want to try again after watching his cousin die? It has to be a lack of opportunity in his country.

Now, I am not an proponent of breaking the law. I know that illegal immigration hurts many Americans. Some Americans actually benefit from it. Do you want to do the jobs some of them do? Come on. They are not working in a bank or an office downtown. They are not making 64,0000.00 a year. They are mainly doing the grunge work that any American that can will avoid doing. We are a big trading partner with Mexico. We are right to want to make countries like North Korea and Iran be less dangerous and better to their citizens. We will get all over China and Russia in a heartbeat. These countries do not share a border with the mainland United States. The geographical reality is we do not want to go to war with Mexico , if it can be helped. We do need to ask Mexico to do something about the extreme poverty in their country that leads to children living in cardboard boxes. That is inhumane and worthy of attention.

It looks like members of Congress will have to watch their dealings with lobbyists. The new measures being put in place will make it harder for them to get gifts and trips from the groups lobbying them to get their way in the lawmaking process. If they get caught violating ethic standards that are tied to their offical duties, they can now kiss their pensions goodbye. Try that in the private sector. You will have to die of a heart attack like Kenneth Lay from Enron to avoid jail time. Ask Lay's business partner and good buddy, Jeffery Skilling. He had the misfortune to live. He is now serving time or will be.

Be careful of what you do online. In divorce proceedings, electronic investigations are bringing to light all kinds of things. Lawyers now know that if you are using a family computer the evidence obtained from them are admissible in court. So, if you are sending your lover emails and valentines on the Internet and are using the family computer, you may find yourself in big trouble. Your notebook or laptop may also be used against you in a court of law. If you hit the send button, it is not gone, even if you delete it. Attorneys are smart enough not to send their clients anything in an email that the other attorney can use in court. Do not give your soon to be ex spouse any ammunition they do not need. You could pay dearly for it.

What a Truly Intelligent Person Will Not Do

22:46 Sep 13 2007
Times Read: 684

Intelligence is genetic. Of course, environment plays a part, but I am not trying to get into a nature vs. nuture debate here. I am attempting to get across a point that some self-proclaimed intelligence people on the rave like to point out all the errors in spelling and grammar on others profiles.

Intelligence people will see the errors and still be able to understand what point or lack of point the author is trying to convey. They will not unless they are a schoolteacher or an editor attempt to correct or make comments anywhere in a public forum demeaning the intelligence of another. School teachers and editors should not be demeaning others either. That is not needed. You can win and change more things with honey than with vinegar. Why would someone who is uneducated or maybe educated, but not caring about how they come across on the rave , care what you say about them and attempt to change, if they read certain things about themselves in a public forum? They will be offended and find themselves not listening to a thing you have to say. Why should they? You have shown that the old adage that many intelligent people are not very nice is true. That should not be the case. Albert Einstein was a genius. He did not appreciate the help he gave in creating the atomic bomb. The destruction of others was not his cup of tea. Some on the rave have probably heard they are stupid by the grown-ups in their lives over and over again. You may say that is not my problem. I heard the same thing and learned to use proper grammar and spelling. Yes, you did. You can use proper grammar and spelling writing in the English language. How well would you fare writing it in Russian without any translating device?

I am sure many are having a good time patting themselves on the back for never making a mistake in grammar and spelling. Good for you! Everyone has a talent. Frank Sinatra could sing. Ginger Rogers could dance. You have given the world good grammar and spelling. We thank you . Good night and Good luck.

Is the Moral Talk Just a Ploy to Get Votes For Some?

04:39 Sep 02 2007
Times Read: 699

There was a time in this country that no Southern Democrat was going to find himself in office unless he protrayed himself as a rabid racist. Not supporting openly and loudly segregation and Jim Crow laws would cost a politican many votes. That is not saying that George Wallace and his ilk were really civil rights activists in disguise. I am just saying that behaving that way helped their poitical careers.

For quite some time, it has been a reality that Republicans will fare better in an election by protraying themselves as moral, God fearing men and women. If the expouse good values, family and love of God, they can expect to get many votes. I am sure there are Republicans that really talk the talk and walk the walk. Many that vote Republican do as well. But every once in awhile, we hear about a Republican who had a field day exposing the bad values of a Democrat and went on and on about their good morals. That same Republican finds themselves a few years later in a scandal that makes me wonder if their open display of morality was just a ploy to get votes from good, God fearing people.

For your consideration: Ex-senator from Idaho Larry Craig. During the little sex or lack thereof scandal of Bill Clinton's , Larry Craig was on tv calling Bill a naughty boy. Fast forward to 2007. Mr Craig is caught trolling for sex or at least being a pervert in a men's bathroom. There have been rumors about him for years. I wonder if he hid his homosexuality just so he could get into and stay in office. Maybe Republicans need to make sure their laundry is not dirty and getting ready to be aired in public if they are going to finger point at Democrats. Wonder what they will do for votes when those who vote on the basis of a candidate's moral values figure out the wool is being pulled over their eyes.
