This is some advice I am going to try and take myself:

Keep a notebook with you at all times.

Like many of you, I write about my everyday life in my journal. Most of the time I can discribe the events of my day well enough, but sometimes in the course of my day I may say something particularly witty, or poignant, or just plain funny! I go to write about it, I can't recall it completely. Which is to bad, because, I come up with some good ones! It is really sad that all my best stuff is falling through the holes in my memory. But there is hope. It shouldn't be to hard to keep a little notebook and a pen in my purse. I'll write down anything that I think I will want to remember. Then, later I can read everything, throw out the crap, and keep the new pearls of wisdom.
