Born in 1431 the devil himself was born a man so evil that men shivered at his name this man was Vladimir III Dracula or also known as Drakulya or Tepes as he was known after death meaning "Spike", he was born in the citdel of Transylvania and born to a military Governor Vlad II who was also a member of the Order of the Dragon a secret cult in 1387 which was created by the Emperor to uphold the laws of christiantity and to defend his kingdom from the Turks. In 1438 Vlad II betrayed his order by making an alliance with the turks and in the winter of 1447 was assasinated for his crimes by a relative. Vlad III was told of this and that his brother had had his eyes gouged out, and been buried alive by the boyars of Tirgoviste. While in captivity, Vlad had grown resentful, and vowed to have his revenge.
In 1446 Vlad III made his move and killed his fathers murderer and Vladislav II the ruler of Wallachia, in 1596 he also had the Boyer families arrested those who were well were put to work those who were ill were impaled on the gates for all to see this was the start of Vlad the Impaler's regin of terror but also the start of a new era as in 1897 a 50 year old man by the name of Bram Stoker sat on the steps of Whitby Abbey and wrote a book that shocked the world but is still renowed around the globe to date, that novel was "DRACULA"

Nice info!
I however have a little thing to add, dear friend:
his name was Vlad, not Valdimir.
Vlad may come from Vladislav (although he was never called Vladislav) but it's not possible that Vlad comes from Vladimir at that era.
In transilvania were many citadels.He was born in Sighisoara but this is not 100% sure.

I often wonder why people are so drawn to Vlad so much. Was it because of the vampire story or because he was just an interesting kind of ruler? :)
