Normally I would just post the poem here, but I would rather that if you wish to read it, you get the free download and enjoy the book form of this piece of work. I wrote this many years ago for a girl that I loved, my first love to be honest and have been a long time in doing something with it. Again, the download is free and you can find it here.... http://www.lulu.com/jwjames
It is entitled, Death of a Love.
13 Years (Copyright December 14, 2005)
I left to be cool, for God and Country, to the Corps.
To be the man, I always knew I could be, for me, for you.
Left you when you asked me not to go.
We parted ways, never angry, living separate lives,
Yours unknown to me, with mine spent searching,
Looking always for the girl who would be just like you.
Comparing, shaping, molding, and leaving,
Never finding satisfaction,
Always hoping to find you again, available.
Years passed, memories remaining, yet faded,
Still holding sacred the verses I scribed for you,
Always dying without you, like the poem said.
And now, hearing from you,
Hoping desperately that you were here,
Wishing that you were alone.
Crushed, bruised and broken,
Listening to you on MP3, proud, yet bleeding,
Letters on my screen etching my soul.
Searing me like some rusted blade,
Killing me one more time.
