New Job

Great news! After two to three weeks straight of attending a number of interviews, I was able to land a gig with another call center. I actually found this position with the help of a staffing agency. I'll be working M-F from 12-9pm EST (so I'll be on here mainly at night), and I'll be calling people who's leases are ending on their vehicles and trying to get them to setup an inspection at the dealership they got the car from. This will be for people with cars like Jaguars, Mercedes, and Cadillacs. It sounds like an interesting position! It's a temp-to-hire job, so after 90 days if I'm doing well I will be hired directly in to the company.

I had a feeling I had landed the job during the interview because the manager and I got along really well, and it was more of a conversation than a typical Q&A session. He said he'd get in touch with the staffing agency by Friday (my interview was on a Wednesday), and five hours after the interview the agency called to let me know that the company wanted to bring me on as a temp employee! Woohoo!

I'm so ready to get back to work. For as much as I've loved all of my free time to play around here on VR and level up, I also need to get out of the house LOL! So don't worry, folks. I'll still be here on a daily basis. It just won't be until the later hours of the day.

Happy Sunday!

I want to take a moment to give a huge shout out and THANK YOU to my best friend here on VR - BeautifulEnlightenment! I'm working hard to level up this profile, and she helped me out in a huge way by creating the gorgeous layout that I now have on my page.

Thank you for taking time out of your busy day, Mary, for doing this for me. I am forever grateful and am always appreciative of the work you put into the layouts you create. Please do not hesitate to let me know if there is anything I can do for you in return! I love you Sis. :)

On The Hunt

Well, life has been kind of hectic these past couple of weeks. The last full week of March threw some crazy shit at me within a matter of 48 hours.

On the 22nd, I had a follow-up appointment with my gynecologist after finding out the week before that I had three fibroids in my uterus; one of them - the biggest - is situated in the lining of the uterine wall. He'd concluded this is why my husband and I have been having a hard time conceiving since we began trying for a baby last June. I am going to have surgery to have the fibroid removed, and the doctor said that I *CAN* for sure have children and carry a baby to term! I can't have the surgery right away due to financial reasons, but I will be having it sometime between now and probably the end of summer. We won't be able to get pregnant for 4-6 months afterwards so that I can heal properly, and when I do have a baby I won't be able to deliver it naturally - it will have to be via cesarean section. BUT the great thing knowing that I *am* able to have children. That was the best news the doctor could have given me!

The next day on the 23rd is when everything went haywire. I was driving on a two-way road a little after 8am when a deer went running across the street between traffic. It was hit by a car in the lane opposite mine and flew in front of my van. Then, out of nowhere, this dog came running between the line of traffic and I actually HIT THE FREAKIN DOG! I was so terrified and freaking out. I'd pulled over a few hundred feet ahead of where the incident happened and called 911. Then I'd called my employer (a collections agency) to let them know I wouldn't be able to make it in for my shift that day - I was just too shaken up. The HR rep that I spoke with said okay and she'd let my supervisor know. I figured it wouldn't be an issue, because I would have a copy of the accident report to turn in so that I wouldn't be slapped with an occurrence.

After waiting for nearly 20 minutes, a police officer who was talking with the owner of the dog finally came over to where I was stopped to get my side of the story. He'd informed me - per the animal warden who came to the scene - that the dog WAS GOING TO BE OKAY! And it only had some superficial wounds. I was like, oh my gosh - I went from most terrifying moment in my life to being so relief in a matter of a few minutes. I wound up talking to two officers and they both assured me that it wasn't my fault the dog got hurt, even though I was the one who hit it with my vehicle. The town I was driving through requires all dogs to be on a leash if they are not in a fenced-in yard, and I was assured that if there was any significant damage done to my vehicle that I could have charged the owner for it. I was like...yea, I'm not going to do that. There was a little girl with the dog's owner who saw everything happened and I wasn't going to put them through more agony. In the end of all things, it was a horrific accident - but everyone turned out to be okay, and that is what's important.

Apparently while I was finishing up with the police, my HR rep called me back and left a voicemail saying she'd needed to speak with me. I called her back as I drove home, and she said that she spoke with the director of the call center and said "due to your lack of production and some attendance issues, we're going to terminate you". I wasn't surprised because I'd had talks with them before, but I didn't think that calling off due to being involved in an accident WHILE I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK would make them pull the trigger on canning my ass. I wanted to get out of that company anyway - they were so unprofessional on so many levels and when I told my supervisor months ago what I knew would help me succeed, I was pretty much told "no we're not going to work with you to give you what you need to do better at your job". So, fine. Be gone with you!

I've been fortunate enough that I've already had a couple of opportunities line up for me since then. Actually, tomorrow morning I have a second interview with another call center and on Tuesday I have an assessment test to take at a staffing agency for a position with a local bank that WILL NOT INVOLVE WORKING WITH CUSTOMERS! AH! lol That is my dream job right there: something where I can go in, do my job, deal with only my co-workers, then go home. *sigh*

Well, if you made it through this entire rambling, I just want to say thanks. :) I wrote about everything on my JadedCrystal account as well but I'm trying to keep things up to date on this profile too. Have a great week everyone!
