So, I get to work today, and my fucking department manager is doing the same fucking shit that he normally does. NOTHING! There's a lot of heavy lifting in my area, and we had 8 pallets come in taller than I, and he doesn't lift a finger. He picks up his little scanner and goes off to scan shit. It's like fucking really? Our area is a mess, and then he decides to go to lunch. So a few minutes before he got back from lunch I went. When I get back, I can guarantee the shit still wont be done. I'm about ready to pinch his nut sac off and shove it up his ass.

That bugs me a lot about people in the work force. Some people try so hard to get a job but it's usually the lazy ones that gets it, while the other good workers suffer for it. Maybe he needs a good telling off! :D

Finally after sitting for 12 hours, refresher course for emergency medical responder is done. I have to say it was fun. The paramedics had a sense of humor. It was a lot more fun than when the original 40 hour class was given. So now it's 5:45 am and I'm headed in to work.

corneal neovascularization

So, I had an appt today with eye doc. Left eye has been red, painful, and sensitive to light. Now I have to see a corneal specialist because I have corneal neovascularization. Pretty much my cornea is not getting the oxygen it needs so more blood vessels are growing to try and make up for it which in turn could very well grow into my cornea causing a whole other can of worms to be opened. Yay for getting old!

As a firefighter, we don't like getting the call about a brother that has fallen. And it becomes harder when that firefighter is a family member.

On May 21st, 2014, my aunt Jenny called from California and asked if I had gotten any calls. I asked about what. She said that my cousin Roger passed away. I said,"What?" and hung up on her and called Roger. His father (my uncle) answered. I asked for Roger. He said, "LeAnn?" I said, "yes?" He asked me if I was calling for anything in particular or...?" and I told him I had heard something and he said, "It's true." and he got quiet. We talked for a couple seconds and hung up. I broke down. I took a leave for a few months from my department.

Rogers crew got called last May to the San Diego fires. On May 20th, he returned back to Fresno, and stayed at his dads house because they were going fishing the next morning. In the morning my uncle woke up and peeked his head in the guest room and asked where his flip flops were. When he didn't get a reply, he went and pulled the covers back. Roger was gone. He died of a heart attack, the number one killer of firefighters.

I cry as a write this because I was very fortunate. Fire Family Foundation paid my round trip ticket to fly down for his funeral. It was the most touching thing I have ever witnessed. I met firefighters from all over. I had never seen so many fire trucks in one place. He was buried with full honors, taps, bells, bagpipes and drums march, the last alarm. There wasn't a person there that didn't have tears in their eyes.

Roger graduated high school and paid his way through paramedic school and then went on to join Cal Fire Fresno county where he was a FFII and taught many classes.

He was buried on his birthday. He would have been 32 years old.

I miss you greatly Roger. I miss texting all the gorey crash scenes and talking about fire stuff. I miss you every day.
