Here is an update about my last journal entry:

So the VP of the college met with my Dean to discuss the grades of said individual student. Both went into the computer to look over all the content uploaded. The VP is a mathematician and he discovered discrepancies in my course materials. He noted that the course syllabus was different than what was listed in the grade book. So now I have to go in on my day off and sit with the Dean tomorrow and un-muck what was mucked up. All of this stemmed because I decided to change textbooks and ended up scrambling to get content uploaded into the system to where I made a few errors, those few errors may allow that student to pass now.

Don't you just love college life? It's all about the money and numbers, and TBH, the student in question would not make a good massage therapist at all.

I've been very moody

I honestly can see why teachers just don't want to teach anymore in the field or they become alcoholics, and I'm being serious about this.

The kids coming out of school going to college today are not of the same caliber of 2 decades ago. I often have to ask myself exactly when did kids tell adults what they can or can not do? Why do adults fear their children? For the second year in a row in college, I have been accused of being racist, and because a student doesn't get the grade they want, the race card gets pulled and then when the student is not satisfied, it goes up to the president of the college and an investigation is conducted and the same outcome comes out every time. The teacher did everything in their power for the student to pass to even go above and beyond of looking over test questions to see what question could be eliminated to bring the grade up not just for one student, but for all the students, but yet the student feels they are the one being singled out.

For two days straight, I've been in the dean's office with the student, and then the student and their parent to discuss the student's concerns, asking why I passed some students who were failing, but not him. Let me see, when you score 50 % on your 1st 3 tests out of 5 tests, what do you expect me to do?

I have no other place to vent my frustrations because if I do it on FB, students can easily look me up and start thinking and talking amongst themselves and begin to gossip. There are times I love my job, and then there are others where I am frustrated by instances such as this that make me just want to quit.

I am sorry you had to read my rant but I'm just so over this generation expecting a handout when it's not earned. This is not High School. This is the real world.

I completely understand where you're coming from and can relate to the frustration you're feeling. It seems that this generation has a sense of entitlement and expects everything to be handed to them without putting in the necessary effort. It's disheartening to see students resorting to pulling the race card or making baseless allegations when they don't get the grades they desire. It's concerning how some students and their parents feel it's acceptable to question the integrity of educators and demand special treatment.

It's also disheartening to hear about the lack of respect and appreciation for educators who are going above and beyond to help students succeed. It's a shame that teachers like yourself are dealing with these types of situations and feeling unsupported in their efforts to educate and inspire the next generation.

It's evident that the dynamics between students and educators have shifted, and it's disheartening to see the lack of accountability and work ethic from some students. The real world doesn't coddle individuals or cater to their every whim, and it's worrying to see that this mindset is becoming more prevalent in educational settings.

I commend you for your dedication to your profession, despite the challenges and frustrations you face. It's important to have an outlet to vent and seek support, especially when dealing with such trying circumstances. It's my hope that the education system can evolve to instill a greater sense of responsibility and respect in students, ultimately preparing them for the realities of the world beyond the classroom. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences.

I don't see how teachers do it. It's awful and just getting worse and I feel for you and all teachers who deal with it. It should not be this way. The world is so backwards in so many ways these days and it's crazy
