As she stared into his eyes she knew she’d been defeated. No matter how hard she’d tried in the past few days she couldn’t keep him out of her thought, out of her dreams, out of her memories. She’d been praying to forget him, but maybe she was praying to forget what he was rather than to forget him altogether.
They’d met by accident. Alex had taken the wrong way home after visiting her mother in the city and ended up in the middle of nowhere. She tried to use her GPS but the batteries were completely dead, as she dug for the charger she realized she left it at home and rested her head on the steering wheel in defeat. How could she have forgotten the one thing that seemed to get her everywhere? She asked herself.
Just as she was trying to decide her next move someone knocked on the window of her SUV. Alex jerked her head up in shock and saw the most beautiful man she’d ever seen in her life. Long flowing black hair that looked bluish in the moonlight, bright green and blue eyes and the sharpest, cleanest facial features she’d ever seen in her life. Alex stared in awe for a second then pressed the button to crack the window.
He watched her curiously and then after a few seconds he spoke, “Are you okay?” He asked in a voice that was both smooth and alluring. Alex nodded, and then shook her head no. “I hate to admit this, but I’m completely lost,” Alex said in utter humiliation. The man nodded and smiled, flashing a beautiful set of perfect teeth. She rolled the window down a bit more and extended her hand to the man, who in turn took her hand in his and placed a kiss on top of it. As he gently let go of her hand he said, “I’m Keenan, pleased to meet you, even if the reasons that brought you here weren’t intended.” Alex starred at him for a second, feeling a burning sensation on the back of her hand where he’d kissed it.
She stuttered as she spoke, “I. I’m Alex.” Keenan smiled again, and this time Alex noticed the sharpness of his teeth, yet instead of being frightened she opened her vehicle’s door and stepped out.
Thinking back Alex wished she’d never done this, that simple step out of her SUV caused the chain of reactions that lead to her current defeat. As he held her close to him tightly, Keenan kissed her neck, grazing sharp canines across it gently. Alex took a deep breath and closed her eyes as his canines pierced her skin, then everything went completely black.
